Marvel Studios just dropped a major update about Avengers: Doomsday. The studio confirmed the movie’s runtime, announced early ticket sales, and shared plans for the first full trailer. The upcoming superhero film is set for a December 18, 2026 release. Premium-format tickets will go on sale starting July 20, 2026, nearly five months before the film hits theaters. The reported runtime stands at 165 minutes (2 hours and 45 minutes).

Marvel Confirms Avengers Doomsday Runtime Details

Avengers: Doomsday will run for 165 minutes. This makes it longer than Avengers: Infinity War, which had a runtime of 149 minutes. But it stays shorter than Avengers: Endgame, which ran for 181 minutes. The runtime places Doomsday as Marvel’s second longest film to date.

The Hollywood Reporter first shared these details exclusively. The runtime could still see minor changes before release. But since tickets are going on sale this early, any changes would be very small. The final cut needs to match the scheduled showtimes already being sold.

Early Ticket Sales Start July 20 For Premium Format

Disney plans to open premium-format ticket sales for Avengers: Doomsday on July 20, 2026. These tickets will be for Infinity Vision screens only. Infinity Vision is Disney’s new large-format brand. The company created this format after Warner Bros. locked down IMAX screens for Dune Part III. Both films share the same December 18 release date.

The early ticket strategy helps Marvel secure premium screens for its film. Disney wants Marvel fans to book Infinity Vision seats before Dune Part III takes over IMAX showings. The studio shows strong confidence in Doomsday’s box office performance.

For Indian audiences, tickets will be available through BookMyShow and TicketNew once pre-sales begin. Advance bookings in India are also set to start around July 20.

First Full Trailer Debuts At San Diego Comic-Con

Marvel will release the first full trailer for Avengers: Doomsday on July 25, 2026. The trailer will debut during the studio’s Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con. An online release is expected to happen at the same time.

A teaser was shown exclusively at CinemaCon earlier this year. That footage never made it online due to strict security. The new Comic-Con trailer will also play in theaters before Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which releases on July 31.

Both Avengers: Doomsday and Spider-Man: Brand New Day skipped Super Bowl trailer launches this year. This broke a 16-year Marvel marketing tradition. The studio is now focusing on Comic-Con as the big reveal event.

Robert Downey Jr Returns As Doctor Doom

Robert Downey Jr. makes his MCU comeback in Avengers: Doomsday. But he is not playing Iron Man this time. He takes on the role of Doctor Doom, the main villain. The Russos brothers direct the film, which brings Earth’s Mightiest Heroes together against this new threat.

The cast includes several original X-Men actors. Patrick Stewart returns as Professor Charles Xavier. Ian McKellen plays Magneto. James Marsden, Kelsey Grammer, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, and Channing Tatum are also part of the ensemble.

Chris Evans returns as Steve Rogers. Chris Hemsworth plays Thor, and Tom Hiddleston reprises his role as Loki. Other cast members include Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, and Anthony Mackie as Falcon.

Concept Art Reveals Doctor Doom And Returning Heroes

Marvel showed the first official concept art at the Bilibili World Expo in Shanghai. Former Marvel visual development director Andy Park created the artwork. He shared it on social media on July 11. Park called Avengers: Doomsday one of the most significant projects he worked on at Marvel.

The concept art places Doctor Doom at the center. It also shows Steve Rogers, Thor, and Loki in updated looks. The X-Men appear in comic-inspired costumes, including Magneto’s classic purple-and-red suit. The artwork brings together the Fantastic Four, the New Avengers, and Wakandan heroes in one massive poster.

Tom Holland’s Spider-Man and Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange have not been officially confirmed yet. Marvel is keeping some surprises under wraps.

Avengers Doomsday Release Date And Competition

Avengers: Doomsday releases worldwide on December 18, 2026. In Australia, the film comes out on December 17. The movie will be a cinema exclusive. It is unlikely to hit streaming platforms for at least three months after release.

The film faces direct competition from Dune Part III, which releases on the same day. Both movies will fight for premium IMAX screens. Disney’s early Infinity Vision ticket push aims to counter this competition.

Disney is also re-releasing Avengers: Endgame as Avengers: Endgame Encore starting September 25 in Infinity Vision theaters. The original Endgame remains the second highest-grossing film ever with $2.8 billion worldwide. Only James Cameron’s Avatar from 2009 has earned more.
