The BAFTA Television Awards 2025 will celebrate the best in British television. Scheduled for May 11, 2025, the ceremony takes place at London’s Royal Festival Hall. Hosted by Alan Cumming, the event will feature performances by Jessie J and Tom Grennan. Viewers can watch on BBC One and BBC iPlayer starting at 7 PM. The awards honor shows like Baby Reindeer and Mr Bates vs The Post Office.

The ceremony will be held at the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall, a venue known for hosting major events. It starts at 5 PM local time and runs for three hours. The broadcast on BBC One and BBC iPlayer begins at 7 PM with a slight delay. For international viewers, BritBox will stream the event in the U.S., Canada, Australia, and the Nordics. Red carpet coverage, hosted by Suzi Ruffell and Tom Allen, streams live on BAFTA’s YouTube channel from 3:30 PM.

This year’s nominations highlight top shows from 2024. Baby Reindeer and Mr Bates vs The Post Office lead with four nominations each. Other strong contenders include Rivals, Say Nothing, and Slow Horses, each with three nods. The P&O Cruises Memorable Moment award, voted by the public, features moments from shows like The Traitors. Nominations were announced on March 27, 2025, alongside the BAFTA Television Craft Awards.

Alan Cumming, known for hosting The Traitors US and roles in Doctor Who, will bring humor to the stage. “I’m thrilled to host this celebration of British TV,” Cumming said. “Expect a night of fun and surprises.” His experience in entertainment ensures an engaging show. The event also honors Kirsty Wark with the BAFTA Fellowship for her journalism work.

“I haven’t sung on British television in years. What a way to come back, it’s an honour,” Jessie J said about her performance.
“It’s a real honour to perform at such a prestigious event,” Tom Grennan added.

The ceremony includes two new categories for 2025: Children’s Scripted and Children’s Non-Scripted. These replace the British Academy Children’s Awards and focus on content for viewers aged 16 and under. Programs eligible for the awards aired between January 1 and December 31, 2024, on platforms like Netflix, Disney+, and BBC. The In Memoriam tribute will feature a performance by violinist Esther Abrami.

Notable attendees include Billie Piper, Damian Lewis, Jessica Gunning, and Richard Gadd. Other stars like Andy Serkis and James Corden are expected to appear. The event draws top talent from British television. BAFTA ensures a glamorous red carpet, with viewing areas for fans selected via a ballot. Press accreditation is closed, but media can access updates online.

“The sheer quality and breadth of talent in British television is second to none,” said Emma Baehr, BAFTA’s executive director of awards.

Viewers can catch up on nominated shows on BBC iPlayer, which offers a collection of 2025 nominees. Platforms like Foxtel in Australia and Sky Arts in New Zealand will also air the ceremony. P&O Cruises, the event’s sponsor, will broadcast it on seven ships. Social media channels like BAFTA’s TikTok and Instagram will share exclusive clips and interviews. The awards celebrate creativity and innovation in TV.
