BIGHIT MUSIC, the agency behind global K-pop acts BTS and TXT, has announced a significant leadership change. On November 26, 2024, the agency revealed that Shin Seon Jeong has been appointed as the new CEO, succeeding Shin Young Jae.
Shin Seon Jeong’s Role and Background
Shin Seon Jeong has been a part of BIGHIT MUSIC since its early days in 2010 when it was still known as BIGHIT Entertainment. Over the years, she has played an essential role in the agency’s growth, particularly in the development and training of K-pop trainees. Her experience and contribution to BTS’s rise to global stardom have been invaluable, and she is now stepping into the top leadership position as the agency prepares for BTS’s highly anticipated comeback in 2025.
In her new role as CEO, Shin is expected to continue overseeing the agency’s ongoing operations while also spearheading new projects to further solidify BIGHIT MUSIC’s position in the global music industry.
Recognition and Achievements
Shin’s career has been marked by notable achievements. She was recognized by Billboard, making it onto the 40 Under 40 list in 2022 and also receiving an honor on Billboard’s Women in Music list in 2023. Her track record has proven her instrumental to BIGHIT MUSIC’s success.
Departure of Shin Young Jae
Shin Young Jae, the outgoing CEO of BIGHIT MUSIC, will remain within the HYBE organization. He will now take on the role of CEO for HYBE Music Group APAC, an entity formed in August 2024 to manage and oversee the company’s labels across the Asia-Pacific region.
The Legacy of BIGHIT MUSIC
Since its founding by Bang Si Hyuk in 2005, BIGHIT MUSIC has become a powerhouse in the global music scene. Initially known for managing artists like 8Eight and 2AM, the agency skyrocketed to global fame with the debut of BTS in 2013 and the addition of TOMORROW X TOGETHER in 2019. The agency has also signed solo artist Lee Hyun. As a subsidiary of HYBE Corporation, BIGHIT MUSIC continues to generate record-breaking revenue, cementing its place as one of the most successful labels in K-pop.
