BLACKPINK’s Lisa released her first solo mini-album Press Play on October 23, 2026, and within days the conversation shifted from the music to the sales chart. Hanteo Chart tracking showed a little over 27,000 copies sold after three days, with the first update posted on October 26. The figure drew sarcastic comments from some social media users who claimed Lisa’s solo appeal has dropped. Supporters fired back with a different explanation: Lisa’s own website for the album sold out multiple times, and that store does not report its sales to Hanteo.
What Hanteo Reported for Press Play
Hanteo Chart is a real-time album sales tracker in South Korea that collects data from participating retailers. The first Hanteo update for Press Play landed on October 26, three days after the EP arrived. The reported total sat at just over 27,000 copies, according to a known sales reporting account cited by multiple outlets. One widely shared post from the tracking account @koreansales_twt put the three-day figure at 23,427 copies on the day four update before later totals moved past 27,000. The number is lower than what Lisa’s previous releases posted in their opening days, and that gap became the fuel for the online debate.
Why Fans Say the Hanteo Number Is Not the Full Picture
Lisa operates her own company, LLOUD, and she launched a dedicated website for Press Play that sells different versions of the album along with merchandise. Supporters pointed out that several items on that store sold out more than once. The Press Play website does not state that it reports sales to Hanteo, unlike many Korean retailers that do. That difference means a share of physical purchases may never appear in the Hanteo total.
“Lisa running her own damn company LLOUD, got her own website n everything is already completely SOLD OUT while, QRTs are packed with K-pop stans whose faves are still corporate slaves of Korean labels” — fan post shared on X on October 27, 2026
The argument from Lisa’s supporters is not that the Hanteo number is fake. It is that the Hanteo number is incomplete. An album sold through an independent artist store and an album sold through a Korean distribution chain do not always land in the same tracking system. Press Play sits in that gap.
The Mockery and the Pushback on Social Media
Critics used the 27,000 figure to question Lisa’s standing as a solo artist. Posts circulated with lines like “even her sales are flopping” and claims that she has “no streams, no sales” beyond her YouTube views. One post from @ssriaz_ on October 26 read: “She has no streams, no sales, nothing but her fraudulent YouTube views, yet her fans swear she’s the most successful K-pop soloist”. Another user joked that Lisa would “come live and beg her fans to buy her album”.
Supporters answered with the sold-out store argument and with a point about ownership. Lisa left YG Entertainment for her solo activities and built LLOUD as her own management company. For her fans, the Hanteo number is less a measure of popularity and more a measure of which sales channels get counted.
“They’re coping so hard in the replies while this is Lisa in the USA right now, despite the album being pricey and having only six songs” — fan response shared on X
Some observers also raised the price and the length of the EP. Press Play carries six tracks, and the physical editions come with merchandise bundles. Critics argued that a short EP at a premium price may not pull the same bulk-buying numbers that a full-length album does. Fans countered that the bundles sold out, which undercuts the idea that demand was missing.
Lisa Previous Sales and Career Context
The comparison being made online is with Lisa’s earlier releases. Her debut solo single album Lalisa, released in 2021, sold more than 736,000 copies in its first week in South Korea. Her debut full-length album Alter Ego, released in February 2025, debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard 200 and hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart. Those numbers set a high bar, and the Press Play Hanteo total looks small beside them.
The difference in release strategy matters. Alter Ego arrived through the traditional Korean label and distribution system. Press Play arrived through LLOUD in partnership with RCA Records, with a direct-to-consumer store sitting alongside standard retail. The SaWaDiKa single, released ahead of the EP in September 2026, debuted at No. 69 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking Lisa’s highest-charting song on that chart at the time.
