BLACKPINK’s Rosé reveals that THE BLACK LABEL founder and producer Teddy Park played a key role in convincing her to release the viral hit “APT.” featuring Bruno Mars.

BLACKPINK’s Rosé has been making waves with her first-ever full-length solo album, rosie, released on December 6, 2024. Ahead of the album drop, the single “APT.” featuring Bruno Mars captured global attention, blending catchy rhythms with a unique theme inspired by a Korean drinking game. In a recent interview, Rosé revealed that it was Teddy Park, the producer and founder of THE BLACK LABEL, who championed the track’s release.

Teddy Park’s Confidence in “APT.”

On December 9, 2024, Rosé appeared on JoJo Wright’s radio show KPOP with JOJO to discuss her solo album and share behind-the-scenes details. She opened up about her hesitations around releasing “APT.,” a song she felt was unconventional. Despite her doubts, Teddy Park expressed unwavering confidence in the track, declaring it would “break the internet.”

According to Rosé, Teddy’s belief in the song was contagious. She recalled asking him if he truly thought the track had viral potential. Teddy reassured her, calling the song “incredible” and emphasizing its uniqueness and appeal. Trusting his expertise, Rosé decided to move forward, a decision that clearly paid off as “APT.” quickly became a fan favorite.

The Making of rosie and Bruno Mars’ Input

Rosé shared another surprising detail about the album’s journey. Initially, the record was to be titled number one girl. However, Bruno Mars advocated for the name rosie, arguing that it better reflected Rosé’s personality and artistic vision. When she saw the final album design, Rosé was convinced the new title was the perfect choice.

Highlights from rosie

Rosé’s full-length album rosie boasts a total of 12 tracks, including collaborations and personal stories that resonate deeply with her fans. The release was accompanied by the music video for the title track “toxic till the end,” featuring Evan Mock. A special listening party was held before the album’s premiere, where 80 lucky fans got an exclusive preview of her work.

Here’s the complete tracklist for rosie:

  1. Number One Girl
  2. Drinks or Coffee
  3. Two Years
  4. 3AM
  5. Game Boy
  6. APT. (feat. Bruno Mars)
  7. Stay a Little Longer
  8. Too Bad for Us
  9. Call It the End
  10. Not the Same

Rosé’s New Journey with THE BLACK LABEL

In 2024, Rosé officially joined THE BLACK LABEL, founded by Teddy Park, who also played a pivotal role in producing BLACKPINK’s iconic hits. Additionally, she signed with Atlantic Records, a powerhouse label representing artists like Ed Sheeran and Charli XCX. This marks a new chapter for Rosé as she continues to solidify her position as a global solo artist.
