The upcoming anime adaptation of Hiromu Arakawa’s manga Daemons of the Shadow Realm has received a major update. A new trailer released this week confirms the series will premiere on April 4, 2026. The announcement also reveals that the show will run for two consecutive cours, bringing the story of twins Yuru and Asa to screens worldwide .

The official trailer, released on February 2, 2026, provides the first extended look at the anime’s animation and tone. It confirms that Daemons of the Shadow Realm will begin airing in Japan on Saturday, April 4, at 23:30 JST . The series is scheduled for a continuous two-cour run, meaning it will air for approximately two full seasons without a break, covering the Spring and Summer 2026 anime schedules .
The trailer offers fans a glimpse of the show’s visual style, produced by studio Bones (known for Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood and My Hero Academia). The footage highlights the rural setting, the twin protagonists, and the supernatural entities known as Tsugai or Daemons.
Theme Songs by Vaundy and yama
Alongside the premiere date, the trailer previewed the series’ main theme music. The opening theme song is “Tobu Toki” (Time to Fly) , performed by the popular musician Vaundy . Story and Source Material
Daemons of the Shadow Realm (known in Japan as Yomi no Tsugai) is the latest manga from Hiromu Arakawa, the creator of the globally acclaimed Fullmetal Alchemist. The story centers on twins, Yuru and Asa, who were separated as children. Yuru lives peacefully in a remote village, while Asa is kept in a cage, carrying out a mysterious duty . The series follows their reunion and their discovery that they possess the ability to command powerful supernatural beings called Daemons .
The manga began serialization in Square Enix’s Monthly Shonen Gangan magazine in December 2021 . To date, ten compiled volumes have been released in Japan . Square Enix Manga & Books also publishes an official English version .
