What Happened in Episode 9

Episode 9, titled “Seven Wonders of the School,” aired on August 27, 2026. The episode focused on Hinata Misogiya and her friends as they prepared for the school culture festival.

The class decided to run a robot maid cafe for the festival. During the preparations, teacher Busujima-sensei told the students about the seven mysteries of the school. While the stories seemed like typical school ghost tales, Dara-san sensed something unusual about the school.

A new character, Hanako Murasha, appeared in this episode. She is a teacher at the school, but her true identity is something else entirely. The end credits listed her as “Hanako Murasha (Magire)”. The term “Magire” refers to supernatural beings that blend into human society and live among people without being noticed.

The episode also showed Orochi in a different light. This character, who previously sought Kaoru’s spiritual power, ended up helping the girls when they were attacked by a supernatural entity. Even though Orochi does not have good intentions, his actions resulted in saving others.

Yamatagi Madara also played a key role in the episode. He became visible to the girls after intervening to save them, and they saw him as a heroic figure. This marked a possible turning point for his character.

What to Expect in Episode 10

Episode 10 is titled “A Culture Festival for Two” (二人だけの文化祭).

Kaoru Misogiya slips away from the school culture festival and decides to organize a handmade “Mountain Culture Festival” just for Dara-san. She asks Dara-san to take the form of a grade-schooler and dresses her in a maid outfit. Together, they serve coffee and curry in this special private festival.

The preview materials show that things take an unexpected turn when Chiyo shows up at the mountain. How will this affect the festival and the growing bond between the characters?

About the Series

Dara-san of Reiwa is based on the manga by Haruomi Tomotsuka, which started in 2022 and is published through Kadokawa’s ComicWalker. Yen Press publishes the English version.

The story follows siblings Hinata and Kaoru Misogiya, who were raised with a warning never to enter the forbidden mountain forest. One stormy night, they venture in and meet Dara-san, a terrifying serpent god. Instead of being scared, the siblings befriend her and give her the nickname “Dara-san”.

Despite her scary appearance and title as a “god of misfortune,” Dara-san is clumsy, lonely, and surprisingly friendly. The series follows her adventures as she adapts to modern life and technology while dealing with the chaos the siblings bring into her life.

The anime has 13 episodes planned for its first season.
