Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh made a clear statement during a recent Instagram Live session. He told fans he wants to be kept out of political protests. This came after a fan asked him about the ongoing Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar.
Diljit made it clear that he is an artist and not a politician. He also said he does not want to be linked to political issues. The singer said he was not aware of the protest and asked to be kept away from it.
Diljit’s Response to CJP Protest Question
During the live session on July 1, 2026, a fan asked Diljit about the CJP protest at Jantar Mantar. The singer appeared surprised by the question. He said he was busy with his Aura Tour and did not know about the protest.
Diljit said, “Bro, keep me away from protests and such things. I am an artist. I am not a politician.”
He also shared his thoughts on life and the world. Diljit said, “Everything can never be right. Everything in this world can never be right.” He then quoted a line from the Guru Granth Sahib. The line was “Nanak dukhiya sab sansar, so sukhia jis naam adhaara.” This means everyone in the world faces sadness. Only those who rely on God find happiness.
Diljit also sent good wishes to both sides. He said, “So, those who are protesting, congratulations to them, and for whom the protest is happening, congratulations to them also, as I don’t know anything.”
Contrast with Past Support for Farmers’ Protest
Diljit Dosanjh has a history of taking public stands on social issues. In 2020, he strongly supported the farmers’ protest against the farm laws. He visited the Singhu border protest site in December 2020. He also donated Rs 1 crore for winter clothing for the farmers.
Many people on social media noted this change in his stance. One user wrote, “He supported Farmers’ protest a few years back.” Another person said, “Why do I get the impression that this person is fake?” Some also pointed out that he might have other reasons for staying quiet now.
What Is the CJP Protest About?
The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) started as a digital satirical group. They have been protesting at Jantar Mantar since June 20, 2026. The group is demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. They are protesting over the NEET paper-leak controversy and other exam irregularities.
The CJP founder, Abhijeet Dipke, said the protest is about more than education. They are also raising issues about electoral matters. This includes the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The protest has gained support from students across India. Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk also joined the protest. He has been on a hunger strike for five days.

Diljit’s Clear Message on Politics
This is not the first time Diljit Dosanjh has talked about politics. Earlier this year, a civil society group asked him to enter politics. Diljit clearly said no to that idea. He posted on X, “My job is to entertain people. I’m very happy in my field. Thank you so much.”
During the live session, Diljit repeated this message. He said he does not want to be part of any political debate. He called himself an artist and requested fans not to drag him into such matters. His busy schedule with the Aura Tour 2026 also means he is not following current events closely.
Diljit Dosanjh was last seen in the film “Main Vaapas Aaunga.” The movie is directed by Imtiaz Ali. It also stars Naseeruddin Shah, Sharvari, and Vedang Raina. The film has done well at the box office this year.
