SBS’s “Doctor X: Mafia in White” and tvN’s “100 Days of Deception” both hit new ratings marks on the weekend of October 17, 2026, giving Korean television two strong performers in the same frame. Kim Ji-won’s medical noir climbed to its highest number yet, while Kim Yoo-jung’s period spy romance became the most-watched cable show on Saturday.
Nielsen Korea data shows “Doctor X” episode 4 drew an average nationwide rating of 18.5 percent on October 17, with a metropolitan area rating of 18.4 percent and a peak momentary rating of 20.8 percent. The same episode of “100 Days of Deception” scored 7.0 percent nationwide, the drama’s best Saturday figure so far.
Doctor X Climbs With Every Episode
The SBS Friday-Saturday drama has now raised its own record four times in a row. Episode 1 opened at 11.4 percent, episode 2 rose to 14.9 percent, episode 3 reached 15.1 percent, and episode 4 jumped to 18.5 percent. The show also led its time slot among all Saturday and weekly miniseries, according to Nielsen Korea.
The 2049 demographic — viewers aged 20 to 49, a key group for advertisers — peaked at 6.56 percent and averaged 5.9 percent for the episode.
The Liver Twist That Shocked Viewers
Episode 4 ended with a reveal that drove much of the online conversation. Jang Seung-jo, making a special appearance as surgeon Na Dae-il, was shown to be a psychopathic doctor who carved the initials “D.N” into a patient’s liver during a past operation. The patient, Kwon Choong-hyun, had been presented as someone Na Dae-il once saved. The mark was discovered by Gye Soo-jung during emergency surgery.
The episode built toward that moment by showing Na Dae-il’s gentle public image while hinting at something colder underneath. Jang Hee-sook, played by Lee Jung-eun, distrusted him from their first meeting and said he smelled foul.
Kim Ji-won Returns With a Different Look
Kim Ji-won came back to television after a two-year break following “Queen of Tears.” She plays Gye Soo-jung, a freelance genius surgeon who refuses hospital rounds, company dinners, and overtime while dismantling the corrupt “white mafia” at Guseo University Hospital. The role required a physical change.
“I tried a rough short bob hairstyle and stripped away as much of the glamorous external styling seen in my previous work as possible,” Kim said at the October 7 press conference in Seoul.
The series is a Korean adaptation of the long-running Japanese drama “Doctor X,” which ran for seven seasons and had a film adaptation. Director Lee Jung-rim said the team kept the original’s framework but added noir elements for Korean viewers.
100 Days of Deception Tops Saturday Cable
“100 Days of Deception” defended its place as the most-watched cable show on Saturday with 7.0 percent for episode 3, its highest Saturday rating to date. The drama premiered on October 10 at 5.3 percent, rose to 7.6 percent on Sunday October 11, and held near that level with 7.0 percent on Saturday October 17.
The show is a tvN 20th-anniversary special and spans 16 episodes, airing two episodes every Saturday and Sunday at 9:10 p.m. KST until November 29, 2026.
