Ajay Devgn is set to return as Vijay Salgaonkar for the third and final film in the Hindi Drishyam franchise. The actor officially announced the title of Drishyam 3 on August 24, 2026, revealing it as Drishyam The Conclusion. The movie will hit theatres on October 2, 2026.
The announcement came with a new poster featuring a close-up of Ajay Devgn’s eye, carrying the line, “Mera Sach, Mera Sahi, Sirf Meri Family Hai” (My truth, my right, only my family). The actor shared the news on social media with a message about his character’s priorities.
“Har insaan ka nazariya alag hota hai… mere liye meri family hi sab kuch hai. #DrishyamTheConclusion in cinemas 2nd October.”
The Title Confirms The End of Vijay Salgaonkar’s Story
The title Drishyam The Conclusion clearly signals that this will be the final chapter of the Hindi franchise. After two films filled with twists, secrets, and Vijay’s carefully planned moves to keep his family safe, the franchise is now ready to show how his story finally ends.
The first-look teaser, released in December 2025, had already given fans a glimpse into Vijay’s state of mind. In the teaser, Ajay Devgn’s character spoke about how people have given him different names over the years, but his family remains his truth and his right.
“The world calls me by many names — criminal, murderer, deceitful, cunning, fraud, hero, innocent, father, and mastermind. But it doesn’t matter to me. Because I understood one thing from whatever happened, whatever I did, saw, or showed in the past seven years: In this world, every person’s truth is different, as are their rights. My truth and right are my family. As long as things don’t stop, as long as others don’t fail, I will stand here, like a gatekeeper and a wall.”
Why October 2 Holds Special Meaning for Drishyam Fans
October 2 is not a random date for the Drishyam franchise. In the first film, Vijay Salgaonkar and his family meticulously claimed they traveled to Panaji to attend a spiritual retreat, ate pav bhaji at a restaurant, watched a film, and stayed overnight to cover up an accidental killing.
The date has become known as “Drishyam Day” among fans. The Gandhi Jayanti public holiday and the long weekend will also help increase theatre footfalls. The movie will release in cinemas on the exact date when the Salgaonkar family established their false alibi on that fateful night.
The Returning Cast and New Additions
Ajay Devgn will reprise his role as Vijay Salgaonkar, the clever family man from Goa who uses his intelligence to protect his family.
Tabu is returning as IG Meera Deshmukh, the police officer who has been on Vijay’s trail since the first film.
Shriya Saran will once again play Nandini, Vijay’s wife.
Rajat Kapoor is also returning to reprise his role.
Two new actors have joined the cast for this final chapter:
- Prakash Raj has been added to the cast in a new role.
- Jaideep Ahlawat has joined the film after Akshaye Khanna exited the project.
Other cast members include Ishita Dutta and Mrunal Jadhav.
Behind the Scenes: Director and Production
Abhishek Pathak returns as the director for the third instalment. He also directed Drishyam 2 (2022). Pathak has co-written the film with Aamil Keeyan Khan and Parveez Shaikh.
The film is backed by Star Studio18 and Panorama Studios. The producers are Alok Jain, Ajit Andhare, Kumar Mangat Pathak, and Abhishek Pathak.
The shooting for Drishyam The Conclusion has already been completed. The film wrapped up its shoot earlier in June 2026 and is currently in the post-production phase.
How the Hindi Version Differs from the Malayalam Original
Director Abhishek Pathak spoke about how the Hindi version will be different from the Malayalam film. He told Pinkvilla:
“The shoot is done. We are currently working on some patchwork and will release it on October 2. There’s a lot of excitement around the film. What people are seeing right now in Malayalam Drishyam is different. For the Hindi audience, I have created a completely different track that will work beautifully here. The Malayalam version focuses more on family drama, while the Hindi version will lean more towards a family thriller. That’s the fabric of the film. When the trailer releases, audiences will see how different the two worlds are.”
The Hindi Drishyam franchise began in 2015 with the remake of Mohanlal’s Malayalam film of the same name. The first film was directed by the late Nishikant Kamat. After his death in 2020, Abhishek Pathak took over direction for the second and third parts.
The first Hindi film earned around Rs 110 crore worldwide. Its sequel, Drishyam 2, released in 2022 and became an even bigger hit, grossing nearly Rs 342 crore globally.
The Malayalam Franchise Takes a Different Path
While the Hindi franchise is ending with Drishyam The Conclusion, the original Malayalam series is moving in a different direction. Producer Antony Perumbavoor recently confirmed that Drishyam 4 will be made.
The Malayalam Drishyam 3, starring Mohanlal and directed by Jeethu Joseph, released on May 21, 2026. The film opened to around Rs 43.37 crore worldwide and later crossed Rs 242 crore globally, making it the highest-grossing film in the Drishyam franchise so far.
The third part of the original Malayalam film kept the doors open for a future instalment, but the Hindi version’s title signals that the franchise will end with this chapter.
