Former child actor Ethan Jamieson, who played a small but memorable role in the 2012 blockbuster The Hunger Games, has been arrested on serious assault charges. News broke on April 15, 2026, that the 27-year-old was taken into custody for allegedly firing a gun at a vehicle carrying three people in Raleigh, North Carolina. With his court date scheduled for April 30, many fans are revisiting his brief appearance in the hit movie franchise.

Who Did Ethan Jamieson Play in The Hunger Games?

Ethan Jamieson played the Male Tribute from District 4 in the first Hunger Games film. His character was one of the 24 children selected to fight in the deadly annual event known as the Hunger Games. District 4 is known as a Career district in the books, meaning it trains children specifically for the Games. However, in the movie version, his character did not get that same background detail.

Jamieson was only 13 years old when he filmed The Hunger Games. He spent about five weeks on set in North Carolina, working alongside stars like Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, and Liam Hemsworth. His character did not last long in the Games. The District 4 male tribute died during the bloody opening scene called the Cornucopia bloodbath, where many tributes are killed within the first few minutes.

In the film, his character hides behind a crate trying to avoid the fight. But Cato, the Career tribute from District 2 played by Alexander Ludwig, catches him and kills him. Jamieson told Teen Ink back in 2012 that they filmed the death scene over two weeks to get it right.

“They taught me how to do ‘head takes’ which is moving your head back to make it look like you got hit. I wasn’t actually hit.” – Ethan Jamieson on filming his death scene

The Arrest and Assault Charges

The news of Ethan Jamieson‘s arrest came out on April 15, 2026, though police actually took him into custody on April 8. He faces three felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. According to court documents, the charges stem from an incident on March 23, when he allegedly used a 9mm semi-automatic handgun to assault three men identified only as E.F., J.M., and K.W.

The Raleigh Police Department responded to a shots fired report on March 22 at 9:52 p.m.. When officers arrived, they found a victim who said an unknown person on an e-bike shot at their car while they were driving. Two other people were also inside the vehicle at that time.

Lieutenant David Davis of the Raleigh Police Department confirmed that investigators later identified Jamieson as the person who fired a single gunshot toward the victims’ vehicle. A judge denied him bail on April 9, and he is now waiting for his disposition hearing on April 30.

Not His First Run-In With The Law

This is the second time Ethan Jamieson has been arrested in just over a year. Back in March 2025, police arrested him in Raleigh for resisting a public officer. Court records show he was sentenced for that offense on March 26, 2026 – only three days after the alleged shooting incident that led to his current charges.

A Brief Acting Career

Ethan Jamieson did not continue acting after The Hunger Games. His first acting job was a small role on the TV show One Tree Hill in 2009. He also appeared in the 2010 kids movie The Rusty Bucket Kids: Lincoln, Journey to 16. His last acting credit was a 2013 episode of the TV series Justified. After that, he stepped away from Hollywood and returned to a normal life in North Carolina.

Back when The Hunger Games came out, Jamieson told a reporter he wanted to stay grounded. He said, “I want to be just a normal person.” He talked about how he and the other young actors playing tributes became close friends on set. They played hide and seek at the hotel, went swimming, fishing, and ate meals together with their families.

Fan Reactions To The News

Social media lit up after news of Ethan Jamieson‘s arrest spread. Many fans of The Hunger Games expressed shock that the young boy they saw on screen years ago is now facing such serious charges. Some remembered his character as the tribute who tried to hide but got caught by Cato. Others pointed out how young he was when the movie came out and how different his life looks now.
