The latest Euphoria Season 3 episode dropped on May 3, 2026, and viewers can not stop talking about the new girl at the Silver Slipper. Episode 4, titled “Kitty Likes to Dance,” introduces a character named Kitty who immediately grabs attention. While her storyline is dark and intense, many fans found themselves asking the same question: where have I seen this actress before? Her face is not new to television, and her family name carries serious Hollywood weight.

If you watched the episode and felt a wave of recognition, you are not alone. Kitty is played by Anna Van Patten, a 27-year-old actress from New York City. Once you hear her last name, things start to click. She comes from one of the most well-known acting families in the business.

Who Is Anna Van Patten? Meet Hollywood’s Rising Star

Anna Van Patten was born and raised in New York City. She grew up surrounded by cameras and scripts. Her father is Timothy Van Patten, an Emmy-winning director who worked on massive shows like The Sopranos and Boardwalk Empire. Her sister is Grace Van Patten, the star of Hulu’s hit show Tell Me Lies. Her uncles are actors Dick and Joyce Van Patten. Acting is literally in her blood.

Despite this family tree, Anna did not feel forced into acting. She attended the Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, the famous “Fame” school. She later studied film at The New School. Her training helped her land small roles on major crime shows early in her career.

Her first credit came in 2019 with an episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. She followed that with a spot on FBI: Most Wanted in 2020. These guest roles gave her the experience she needed to handle bigger projects.

Where You Have Seen Anna Van Patten Before

The biggest reason Kitty looks so familiar is Gossip Girl. In 2021, Anna joined the reboot of the iconic series on HBO Max. She played Grace Byron, the girlfriend of Obie Bergmann. It was her first recurring role on a major streaming show. That part put her on the map for many young viewers.

In 2025, she took on a very emotional role. She played Deanna Knox, the sister of Amanda Knox, in the Hulu miniseries The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox. The casting was extra special because her real-life sister, Grace Van Patten, played Amanda Knox. Watching the two sisters play sisters on screen was a powerful moment for audiences.

She has also appeared in a music video for The Kid Laroi and the film Master (2022). Every small role built up to her biggest moment yet: joining the cast of Euphoria.

Kitty arrives at the Silver Slipper as a new dancer from Kansas. She replaces Angel, another dancer who went to rehab and never returned. Her name literally gets taped over Angel’s name on the dressing room board. Right away, the show sets her up as a replacement who might be in serious danger.

Rue, played by Zendaya, watches Kitty on a security camera inside the club’s office. What she sees is horrifying. Kitty is shown being attacked by a group of men in a back room. Rue immediately goes to check on her. She asks Kitty directly if she is being forced to work there against her will.

Kitty responds, “I like to dance.” But the audience sees the truth. She never dances. She is covered in bruises. The show uses Kitty to shine a light on human trafficking and the dark reality behind some strip clubs. Rue recognizes that Kitty is trapped, but Kitty seems too scared or broken to accept help.

The episode ends with Kitty still at the club, while a robbery and shooting happen elsewhere. She is a small character who represents a very big problem.

Anna Van Patten Opens Up About Joining the Show

The actress spoke about her experience joining one of the biggest shows on television. She revealed that she booked the role just one week before filming started. That meant she had very little time to prepare, but she said the pressure actually helped her performance.

In an interview, Van Patten described her character:

“Kitty is sweet, offbeat, complete, and a visual treat. For me, it’s hard to describe Kitty through a big lens. I lived in the present with her and focused on the character’s nuances, playing her truth in each moment.”

She also admitted she was a fan of the show before getting the part. When the audition came, she was very excited to see Euphoria return for its third season. She explained that the show’s emotional depth is what draws her as an actor.

“I was a fan of the show beforehand, so when I got the audition, I was very excited to know it was coming back for its third season. The show’s emotional profundity really excites me as an actor, and I think it’s very special to be a part of something that poses questions to its audience.”

Van Patten also noted that her character is not average. She wanted to avoid making Kitty a stereotype. By booking the role so late, she was forced to trust her instincts rather than overthink every choice.
