The highly successful post-apocalyptic series Fallout is expanding its world. The second season will leave the ruins of Los Angeles behind and journey to the vibrant, dangerous city of New Vegas. After the cliffhanger ending of season one, the new episodes will follow Lucy and the Ghoul as they uncover more secrets in the Mojave Wasteland.
Fans will not have to wait much longer to continue the story. Production on the new season wrapped up in May 2025, and the show is now in its final stages of post-production.
When to Watch: Key Release Dates
Mark your calendars for a post-apocalyptic holiday season. Fallout season 2 will premiere on December 17, 2025, exclusively on Prime Video.
Unlike the first season, which released all episodes at once, the new season will adopt a weekly release schedule. New episodes will drop every week, with the season finale scheduled for February 4, 2026. This weekly rollout means the story will unfold over two months, giving fans more time to speculate on each new development.
The Journey to New Vegas
The story picks up directly from the season one finale, where Hank MacLean was seen walking toward the iconic lights of New Vegas. The new season will officially bring this location from the Fallout: New Vegas game to life.
Showrunners have confirmed that the plot will delve deeper into the history of the Ghoul, showing more of his life as the pre-war actor Cooper Howard. The first trailer hints that Mr. House, the ruler of New Vegas, may have been involved in the nuclear holocaust that started the apocalypse.
The show’s executive producer, Jonathan Nolan, emphasized the importance of these flashbacks, stating that the ability to explore the past is something he loves about the series format. The search for the Ghoul’s family and Lucy’s pursuit of her father will drive the narrative forward into the war-torn Mojave.
Meet the Cast and New Characters
The main trio of survivors all return for the new season. Ella Purnell is back as the determined Vault-dweller Lucy MacLean, Walton Goggins reprises his role as the enigmatic Ghoul, and Aaron Moten returns as Maximus, the Brotherhood of Steel knight.
They are joined by returning cast members Kyle MacLachlan as Hank MacLean, Moisรฉs Arias as Norm MacLean, and Frances Turner as Barb Howard.
Season two also introduces several major new characters, bringing familiar faces from the games to the screen.
- Justin Theroux has been cast as Robert House, the brilliant and ruthless CEO of RobCo Industries who controls New Vegas. This role was played by a different actor in a brief season one cameo.
- Macaulay Culkin joins the cast in a recurring role described as a “crazy genius”-type character.
- Kumail Nanjiani is also confirmed for the new season, though his character details remain undisclosed.
Leaked set photos have also hinted that factions from the Fallout: New Vegas game, such as Caesar’s Legion and the New California Republic (NCR), will appear, suggesting new characters and conflicts.

A Bigger World with More Dangers
The show’s creators have promised that the second season will be larger in scope, introducing more monsters, factions, and environments from the games. One of the most anticipated additions is the Deathclaw, a iconic creature from the game series that was deliberately saved for season two.
Co-showrunner Graham Wagner explained the decision, stating:
“We wanted to get Deathclaws, but we didn’t want to just throw it away. It’s such a monumental piece. We want to save something for Season 2 to be able to do it properly.”
Set photos and videos from production, which took place in California, have revealed detailed recreations of famous New Vegas locations. These include the Lucky 38 casino, the Ultra-Luxe, and the Fabulous New Vegas sign, confirming that the show will closely mirror the game’s setting.
How and Where to Stream
Fallout season 2 will be available to stream exclusively on Prime Video. The series will launch globally in more than 240 countries and territories on the same day. The first season is currently available on the platform for anyone who needs to catch up before the new episodes arrive.
