FBI Season 9, Episode 3, titled “White Rock,” closed the book on OA Zidan’s long undercover operation against Anna Vorpe. The episode aired on CBS on October 19, 2026. OA got his badge back. Anna went to prison. The case that started with a fake firing in the Season 8 finale finally reached its end.
The victory came at a cost. The team had to compromise. OA had to survive torture. And a warning from Jeremy Sisto, who plays Jubal Valentine, suggests the hardest part for OA is only starting.
What Happened Before Episode 3
Season 9 opened with OA already deep undercover. His “firing” from the New York Field Office was a cover so he could get close to Anna Vorpe and her private strike team. Only Isobel Castille and Maggie Bell knew the truth at first.
Episode 2, “Omissions,” changed that. Jubal followed Isobel and learned about the unsanctioned operation. He confronted her about being left out. Maggie, meanwhile, was working with a new partner, Isaiah Green, while quietly helping Isobel run the secret mission.
By the end of “Omissions,” the circle of people who knew about OA was growing. Keeping the secret inside the office walls was no longer possible.
The Team Gets Read In — Everyone, Not Just a Few
Episode 3 opened with the secrecy collapsing. Maggie and Isobel brought the rest of the team into the operation. They explained the stakes: everyone involved could lose their jobs for helping an agent who was officially fired. No one walked away.
Jubal had already been read in at the end of Episode 2. His role in Episode 3 was emotional rather than tactical. He apologized to Isobel for following her. She told him she did not want to be talked out of the plan. Jubal admitted he was surprised she did not want his input, but he understood her reasoning.
Isaiah Green, the ADIC’s nephew and Maggie’s temporary partner, was the last to learn the truth. Maggie initially did not trust him because of his family connection to leadership. Once Isaiah proved he had not leaked information, Maggie brought him in. Isaiah then met OA face to face and was briefed on the operation.
ADIC Lawrence Green learned about the unauthorized surveillance when his superior called him. Isobel told him everything. Green made a choice that surprised the team: he sided with them and gave his blessing to continue.
OA’s Undercover Role — The White Rock and the Bug
The episode’s title comes from a small object OA used to sell his cover story. OA gave Anna a piece of white rock as a gift. He told her it reminded him of his purpose after he was taken as a prisoner of war. He claimed he no longer needed it and wanted her to have it.
The rock was hollow. Inside was a listening device provided by Ian Lim. The bug let the team hear Anna’s calls with the powerful person protecting her.
To make Anna use that phone line, OA intentionally caused an explosion during a strike team operation. He shot at a car as gang members tried to flee, triggering a blast. Later, he apologized to Anna and used the moment to hand over the rock as a gesture of gratitude.
The plan worked. Anna called her protector. The team listened.
Anna’s DC Shield — Ernest Carver and the Tiara Wylie Cover-Up
The bug led the team to Ernest Carver, the undersecretary of defense and a man with enough influence to make Anna’s problems disappear.
The connection went back four years. Anna had covered up the death of Tiara Wylie, a teenage girl whose body was found under a bridge. Police ruled it a suicide. Tiara’s parents never believed it.
The team first focused on Ross Carver, Ernest’s son. Ross drove a blue Mercedes that matched a witness description. Scola and Eva found a drug addict named Angus who said he saw Tiara get into a blue car on the night she died. That statement was missing from the official police report.
Maggie’s medical examiner friend confirmed Tiara did not die by suicide. The body showed signs of a car accident, not a fall.
The theory was simple: Ross killed Tiara, called his father, and Ernest called Anna to clean it up.
That theory was wrong.
The Twist — Ernest Carver Was the Man in the Car
Ross was questioned and released. The team hacked his phone and listened as he called his father. Ernest told Ross to “go smell some dandelions,” a code the agents quickly recognized as a signal to run.
Maggie and Isaiah followed the lead but arrived too late. Anna and an associate had already killed Ross. They staged his death as an overdose.
Ross’s murder exposed the real story. Ernest Carver, not his son, was the man in the car with Tiara on the night she died. Ross’s car was used to make the cover-up easier. Tiara was a minor, drugs were involved, and Ernest had everything to lose. Anna had been cashing in on that favor for four years.
OA Is Found Out and Tortured
Anna eventually discovered the bug inside the white rock. OA’s cover was gone.
Anna had Devin, a member of her strike team, torture OA. The physical beating was brutal. The psychological part cut deeper. Anna told OA that his time with the strike team had changed him. She said he was no longer the same person.
Devin was genuinely surprised when OA escaped. OA was not a passive prisoner waiting to be rescued.
The Takedown — OA Makes the Arrest
The FBI moved in on Anna’s location. A shootout followed between the bureau and the strike team.
OA fought back. At one point, he saved Devin from falling to his death, even after Devin had beaten him.
Anna was arrested. Jubal handed the handcuffs to OA so he could make the arrest himself. It was a deliberate choice: after everything the undercover assignment cost him, OA got to close the case with his own hands.
Ernest Carver avoided prosecution. He traded testimony against Anna for full immunity. Anna went to prison. The man who enabled her protection walked free.
OA’s Reinstatement and the Bar Scene With Maggie
The episode ended with OA’s formal return to the bureau. He was sworn in again with his hand on the Quran and given his badge back.
Later, OA and Maggie met at a bar. Maggie told him there were days she believed he had died. OA explained that contacting her during the operation could have exposed a chain of people if he had been caught.
Maggie noted that he must be happy to have his badge back. OA’s reaction was not simple relief. He looked at the badge differently. The bureau had restored his job. Feeling at home in it was a separate question.
What Jeremy Sisto Says About What Comes Next for OA
Jeremy Sisto did not describe OA’s return as a clean happy ending. He said OA is “going to be going through some challenging stuff,” and that there is “something pretty dark that seems to be happening within him”.
Sisto also said OA’s partnership with Maggie “is going to be tested in a new way”. They have been tested before, but the undercover operation left OA with experiences that do not disappear when the badge comes back.
