The From Season 4 finale is set to deliver major changes for the residents of Fromville. The episode, titled “If a Tree Falls in the Forest…,” will air on June 28, 2026, on MGM+. The logline for the episode states: “Boyd’s quest to lead the residents home reaches a terrifying crossroads, and nothing will ever be the same again.”
The Bottle Tree Faces Destruction
Jade came up with a plan to cut down the bottle tree to create a second entrance to the underground bone chamber. The chamber currently only has one way in and out, which Boyd called a “shooting gallery.” Jade realized the tree grew over a hole in the roof of the chamber.
Boyd did not agree with the plan at first because destroying the tree would leave them with only one possible escape route. The Boy in White also warned Victor that nobody should remove or destroy the bottle tree. The episode title suggests they will cut it down anyway, which will bring terrible results.
Jade and Tabitha will go underground to dig up the children’s bones, despite the Man in Yellow telling Tabitha that this act is both the key to salvation and unimaginable suffering. The Man in Yellow, who revealed himself to Tabitha in Episode 8, warned that uncovering the bones could either save them all or unleash a new kind of hell.
Fatima’s Transformation Underground
Fatima will go through a horrifying physical change while inside the caves. She has been struggling with her health throughout Season 4. After connecting with the Smiley monster, she developed varicose veins on her stomach, similar to the monsters’ appearance. Kristi checked her vitals and told Marielle that Fatima’s blood pressure and pulse were consistent with a deceased person.
During the rescue mission in the finale, Fatima will turn into one of the creatures. Instead of helping Boyd and Ellis, she will turn against them. Boyd, Ellis, and Fatima will head into the caves to try to pull Jade and Tabitha out safely. Boyd’s team plans to cut down the bottle tree and drop a rope ladder into the cave system, but this plan comes with serious risks.
Sophia’s Final Move Against the Town
Sophia, who viewers know is actually the Man in Yellow in disguise, will destroy the rescue plan. She will secretly cut the rope ladder before Jade and Tabitha can be pulled up. When Boyd’s team tries to lift them out, the ladder will snap, leaving Jade and Tabitha trapped underground.
Sophia will then go from building to building across the town, collecting every talisman she can find. She will take them all to the faraway tree and dump every single one inside. Without the talismans, every home in the town will be completely unprotected, allowing the creatures to walk into any house.
The show’s creators said their goal is to make sure the audience understands what the villain is doing. Creator John Griffin explained that the decision to reveal the Man in Yellow’s identity as Sophia early in Season 4 came from thinking about how the villain would most enjoy this phase of the game.

The finale will bring several character deaths. Smiley is expected to kill Marielle, and Sophia is predicted to kill Elgin. Henry will reach a breaking point, convinced that none of this is real. He will take a gun from the sheriff’s station and go to confront Victor. Only Ethan walking in will stop him from doing something irreversible.
The finale will also reveal that the main villain of the show is not the Man in Yellow, but someone else. This revelation will set up the fifth and final season of the show, expected to premiere in 2027.
Executive producer Jeff Pinkner said the writers always keep fans in mind when crafting the story. He explained that the premise has always been to reveal all the answers, and the question becomes what the characters do about it. The show’s creators emphasized they never wanted to tell a bleak story, even though it can be hard to watch at times.
The From Season 4 finale will change everything for the residents of Fromville, leaving the town defenseless and the characters facing their greatest challenge yet.
