The 2024 SBS Gayo Daejun took place on December 25th at Incheon Inspire Arena, with IVE’s Ahn Yu Jin, NCT’s Doyoung, and TXT’s Yeonjun serving as hosts for the event.
G-Dragon emerged as the highlight of the night, performing during the finale of the show. This performance was G-Dragon’s first at the Gayo Daejun since 2016 when he last appeared with Big Bang, marking his return after eight years. Additionally, it was his second appearance at a year-end music festival, having previously performed at the 2024 MAMA Awards in Osaka, Japan, on November 23rd.
“I grew up listening to this person’s songs when I was young,” said Yeonjun in his introduction of G-Dragon.
“This is a stage that will undoubtedly crown the finale of Gayo Daejun. G-Dragon, the irreplaceable, living legend who dominates the stage with his presence alone,” added Doyoung.
G-Dragon’s performance of his new track ‘POWER’ was met with enthusiastic cheers, showcasing his unmatched energy and charismatic stage presence.
Following G-Dragon’s performance, all 29 artists from the night’s lineup gathered on stage with him for a joint greeting to the audience, closing the event on a high note.
In a light-hearted moment, G-Dragon was celebrated as the number one choice in the ‘My Favorite Idol Who Would Be My Santa Claus’ poll. In his acceptance speech, he humorously remarked:
“I’m the ‘favorite idol’ G-Dragon chosen at the Gayo Daejun. I thought this meant I was the oldest idol. It feels like I’m still an idol. Thank you, guys. Noonas, hyungs, thank you all.”
This statement brought laughter and joy to everyone present.
