The wedding of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce is shaping up to be the biggest celebrity event of the year, and now a rock icon from the 90s has thrown his name into the mix. John Rzeznik, the lead singer of the Goo Goo Dolls, just made it clear that he is ready and willing to provide the music for the couple’s special day.
Rzeznik shared his offer openly while talking to PEOPLE at the 2026 American Music Awards in Las Vegas. The Goo Goo Dolls were up for an award that night, but all anyone wanted to ask about was the rumored summer wedding between the pop superstar and the Kansas City Chiefs star.
“If I were asked, I would do it,” Rzeznik said simply.
A History on Stage Together
This isn’t just some random celebrity asking for an invite. Rzeznik and Swift go way back. He performed with her during her 2011 Speak Now tour stop at Madison Square Garden in New York City. They sang the Goo Goo Dolls’ massive hit “Iris” together, and Swift later called it “one of the greatest songs ever written”.
At that time, Swift was still in her early 20s. Rzeznik, now 60, expected to be passed along to a bunch of managers or handlers. Instead, Swift handled everything personally.
“What impressed me, because at the time she was still very young, and I expected a bunch of handlers to come and deal with me because I was a guest, but she did,” Rzeznik recalled. “I just remember thinking, ‘This woman’s got her s— together.’”
Rzeznik even credits Swift for helping the song “Iris” stay relevant for so long. He said the movie City of Angels, which featured the song, faded away, but the track never did. The duet with Swift gave it a major second life.
What We Know About the Wedding Plans
While Rzeznik is ready to play, most of the details about the wedding remain a secret. Reports suggest the couple is planning a wedding for July 3 in New York City. But other insiders say that date might be a trick to throw off the paparazzi.
One thing is clear: Swift and Kelce want total privacy. According to sources, they are copying the playbook of Ed Sheeran, who had a secret wedding in 2018 that almost no one knew about until after it happened. The plan is to keep everything locked down and maybe release just a few photos later, just like they did with their engagement announcement.
Swift herself talked about the wedding planning on The Graham Norton Show. She said, “I know it’s gonna be fun to plan because I think the only stressful weddings are the ones where you have a small amount and people are on the bubble.”
Who Else Might Be There?
The guest list is also a hot topic. Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid, and the Haim sisters are almost certain to be there. Kelce’s teammate Patrick Mahomes and his wife Brittany are also expected to attend.
There is some drama over whether Blake Lively will get an invite. The actress was once very close to Swift, but their friendship hit a rough patch after Lively involved Swift in a legal dispute with Justin Baldoni. One source said there is a greater chance of her coming now that the case is settling down, but it is still a big “if”.
Meanwhile, Zoë Kravitz is reportedly on the list, even though her friendship with Swift has been a little rocky lately.

The Goo Goo Dolls Are Busy This Summer
Whether or not Swift and Kelce accept Rzeznik’s offer, the band has a busy schedule ahead. The Goo Goo Dolls are celebrating their 40th anniversary with a summer tour. Rzeznik brought his 9-year-old daughter Liliana to the AMAs, and bandmate Robby Takac brought his 14-year-old daughter Hana.
For now, fans will have to wait and see if “Iris” becomes the first dance song for one of the most famous couples in the world. Rzeznik has made his offer public, and now the ball is in Swift and Kelce’s court.
