The popular webnovel Got Dropped into a Ghost Story, Still Gotta Work is getting its webtoon adaptation on June 5, 2026. The series comes from the same creative team and shares many similarities with the hit series Omniscient Reader, which recently went on hiatus after 311 chapters.
Fans of Omniscient Reader looking for something new can turn to this horror-themed isekai story. The webtoon arrives on KakaoPage at 10:00 PM KST (9:00 AM EST) this Friday.
What Makes This Webtoon a Successor to Omniscient Reader
Got Dropped into a Ghost Story follows Kim Soleum, a man who gets transported into a world built from user-submitted ghost stories and creepy tales. He joins the Field Exploration Team of Daydream Inc., a company that makes money from paranormal events.
The setup feels very familiar to Omniscient Reader fans. Like Kim Dokja, Soleum uses his knowledge of the stories to survive dangerous situations. The first ghost story he faces takes place on a train, similar to how Omniscient Reader began.
The original webnovel has become extremely popular. It has gathered 370 million views on KakaoPage, putting it just 100 million behind Solo Leveling‘s webnovel numbers. The story blends action, adventure, fantasy, horror, mystery, and supernatural elements together.
Production Team and Studio Behind the Adaptation
Carrotoon, the studio behind many successful webtoons, is producing this adaptation. The studio has worked on titles like How to Win My Husband Over, Secret Lady, Who Made Me A Princess, Welcome to the Dungeon Hotel, and The Frozen Player Returns.
The artist syunnyun, who worked on I Failed to Out the Villain, is drawing the webtoon. The original novel comes from author Baek Deok-su.
KakaoPage shared the cover art and a preview of the first chapter on their official X account on May 25, 2026. The preview includes an animated HTML loading screen designed to pull readers into the spooky atmosphere.
No English Release Announced Yet
English-speaking readers face a problem. Got Dropped into a Ghost Story has not announced an official English translation for its webtoon version.
The original webnovel also remains unlicensed in English despite its huge popularity. This creates a gap for international fans who want to read the series legally.
Piracy becomes more common when official translations do not exist. Many popular Korean webtoons face this same issue, where English releases lag months or years behind the Korean versions.
The webtoon will first appear on KakaoPage in Korean. International fans will need to wait for platforms like Webtoon or Tappytoon to pick up the series for English audiences.
