Name Change, Dispute, and Comeback Plans
Just days before Hanni’s reveal, NJZ confirmed their name change in an interview with CNN. The members also announced their participation in ‘Complex Live’ at ComplexCon in Hong Kong from March 21-23. They addressed the ongoing contract dispute with ADOR and HYBE, stating, “We are putting in a lot of effort to resolve all issues so we can return to the top. At this point, we have completely lost trust in ADOR. We believe we will win this dispute.” Despite the change, they reassured fans, “NewJeans is still very special to us, and we know our fans cherish it deeply as well.”
During a live broadcast, the members discussed the teaser images featuring red lenses. “Did everyone see the photos of us wearing red lenses today? It’s part of an incredible new concept. You can consider it a concept photo for our new song—it’s a little spoiler. We’re preparing to release a new track in March, and we will be presenting it with a fresh image. NJZ’s debut song will be officially released on March 23. We’re so excited and nervous.”
They also shared exciting news about their upcoming music. “We spent a lot of time considering the best way to announce our new music, and ultimately, what we and our fans (Bunnies) wanted the most was a live performance. An agency will also be established soon, so there’s no need to worry.”
