Fans of Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku have a confirmed date to mark on their calendars. A new trailer has announced that the dark fantasy anime’s second season will begin broadcasting in January 2026, continuing Gabimaru’s deadly quest on the mysterious island of Shinsenkyo.
The new promotional video, released by studio MAPPA, promises a continuation of the series’ intense action and introduces several key characters who will join the story. The trailer sets a darker tone, highlighting the escalating threats from the powerful Tensen and the growing conflicts among the criminals searching for the Elixir of Life.
New Cast Members and Their Roles
The first season’s main cast is returning, with Chiaki Kobayashi as Gabimaru and Yumiri Hanamori as Yamada Asaemon Sagiri. The new trailer officially introduced four additional Yamada Asaemon executioners and the voice actors who will bring them to life.
The new characters and their cast members are:
- Yamada Asaemon Shugen: Voiced by Ryota Suzuki
- Yamada Asaemon Jikka: Voiced by Kลji Yusa
- Yamada Asaemon Kiyomaru: Voiced by Maaya Uchida
- Yamada Asaemon Isuzu: Voiced by Sayaka Ohara
In a comment, Ryota Suzuki shared his approach to his character, stating:
โI have been working on portraying the serious and often clumsy Shugen, who, in his respect for his comrades and the way of the samurai, tries to enforce an excessive sense of justice.โ
Kลji Yusa also added his thoughts on the unique role he will be playing:
โJikka is a person who holds a unique position in this seriesโ hard worldview. I will do my best to portray his carefree attitude!โ
Story and Production Details
The second season will adapt the continuing story from Yuji Kaku’s original manga. After the first season covered the Island Arc and early Lord Tensen Arc, the new episodes are set to cover the remainder of the Lord Tensen arc and continue into the massive Hลrai arc. In this next part of the story, viewers will learn more about the island’s secrets and the true nature of the Tensen’s powers.
The core production staff from the first season is returning to ensure consistency. Kaori Makita is back as director, with Akira Kindaichi handling series composition, Akitsugu Hisagi on character design, and Yoshiaki Dewa composing the music. The animation is again being handled by MAPPA.
Where to Watch the New Season
When it premieres in January 2026, the anime will air on TV Tokyo and its affiliated channels in Japan. For international audiences, Crunchyroll has been confirmed to stream the series as it airs. In Japan, the show will also be available on streaming services including Prime Video, Netflix, and Lemino.
The returning voice actors expressed their enthusiasm for the new season. Chiaki Kobayashi, the voice of Gabimaru, said:
