Hina Khan has shared the deeply personal story behind her June 2025 wedding to longtime partner Rocky Jaiswal, revealing that the decision was made in under 15 minutes as she faced the uncertainty of a stage 3 breast cancer diagnosis. The actress opened up about the spontaneous ceremony during an appearance on tennis star Sania Mirza‘s talk show, Serving It Up with Sania, giving fans a candid look at how a 13-year relationship turned into a marriage in minutes.
The Ultimatum That Led to a 15-Minute Wedding
Speaking with Sania Mirza, Hina Khan recalled looking at a photograph from her wedding day and describing the ceremony as something that was never part of a grand plan. The couple had been together for over a decade, and marriage was not on their immediate radar.
โThis was just a random decision. We didnโt plan this. I donโt think we were ready to get married or anything. We have been together for the longest time, more than 10 years. I think 13-14 years now. And it is just that, whatever I was going through health-wise, I told him, โEither you move aheadโฆ you go get married to somebody, whoever you want to, or you better get married to me because I donโt know whatโs going to happen tomorrow.โโ
Sania Mirza then asked if they literally got married in 15 minutes. Hina Khan replied, โIn less than that, actually.โ The exchange confirmed that the entire decision and ceremony unfolded at a speed that surprised even those closest to the couple.
Hina Khan confirmed that her health situation was the primary driver behind the sudden wedding. She described the feeling as uncertainty about the future, something she acknowledged applies to everyone but felt especially urgent given her diagnosis.
โIf I had to put it that way, it was uncertainty, because I donโt know what is going to happen. That is with everybody, to be very honest. So I was just like, โLetโs go ahead and do it.โ And he said, โOkay.โ He never had issues.โ
Inside the Intimate Mumbai Terrace Ceremony
Hina Khan and Rocky Jaiswal tied the knot on June 4, 2025, at their Mumbai home. The ceremony took place on the terrace and was attended by around 20 close family members and friends. The setting was a far cry from the lavish celebrity weddings that often dominate headlines. The focus was on the relationship, not on elaborate production.
The couple had met on the sets of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, where Hina Khan played the lead role of Akshara and Rocky Jaiswal was part of the crew as a producer. Their friendship grew into a romantic relationship, which they made public in 2017. By the time they married, they had been together for 13 to 14 years.
Marriage Did Not Change Anything, Says Hina Khan
One of the most striking parts of Hina Khan‘s revelation was her insistence that marriage did not fundamentally alter their relationship. The couple treated the milestone with a casualness that extended to forgetting their own first wedding anniversary.
โMarriage doesnโt define our relationship. Marriage or no marriage, nothing changed. Everything is the same. Itโs been more than a year, and we did not remember our first wedding anniversary.โ
Hina Khan shared that her sister-in-law eventually reminded them of the occasion. The couple only realised it was their anniversary when people started sending wishes.
โWe didnโt until the night, when people started wishing us. Then we looked at each other and wished each other. We are so chill and cool with each other. We are not dates people.โ
The admission underlined a relationship built on comfort and long-standing companionship rather than formal milestones. Hina Khan noted that the wedding was a natural progression for a couple who had already spent over a decade together.
The Rough Patch That Tested Their Bond
The wedding was not the only chapter of their story that Hina Khan has spoken about. In a separate conversation on the 4POV podcast with Rubina Dilaik and Abhinav Shukla, she described the strain that her cancer battle and other health crises placed on their relationship. She was clear that the challenges were not about compatibility.
โThere have been rough patches, not in terms of compatibility, but my health issues and his motherโs health issues tested us a lot. We have been through a rough patch, and had to take very, very difficult decisions. But he made it look like a cakewalk.โ
Hina Khan also recalled a particularly painful moment when she told Rocky Jaiswal that he should marry someone else. She explained that the suggestion came from a place of love, not a test of his commitment.
โThere were times when I told him, โYou should marry someone else.โ If he had chosen that path, I would have been happy for him because his happiness mattered more to me than being with him.โ
Rocky Jaiswal chose to stay. Hina Khan credited his presence as the reason she was able to navigate that period.
โAnyone who was around me then knew that I was able to get through that time only because of him. He made it look like a cakewalk.โ
Addressing Publicity Stunt Claims
The couple later appeared together on the reality show Pati, Patni Aur Panga, which led some observers to question whether the timing of their wedding was connected to the show. Hina Khan dismissed the speculation directly.
โI really donโt care what people say; we know the reality. If you look at it from a publicity point of view, the actual real reason disappears.โ
She explained that the wedding had been decided months in advance and had to be planned ahead under the Special Marriage Act. The ceremony was not a reaction to a television opportunity but a decision made in the context of her health and their long-standing relationship.

A Relationship Measured in Years, Not Minutes
The speed of the wedding decision stands in contrast to the length of the relationship that preceded it. Hina Khan and Rocky Jaiswal built their bond over more than a decade before making it official. The 15-minute ceremony was not a shortcut but a reflection of two people who had already committed to each other in every way that mattered.
Hina Khan‘s cancer diagnosis came in 2024, and she has been open about her treatment journey, including chemotherapy and surgery. The wedding took place in June 2025, in the middle of that battle. The timing was not planned around a publicity calendar but around the reality of an uncertain future.
The story that has emerged is not one of a fairy-tale wedding but of a practical, deeply human decision made by two people who had already spent years choosing each other. The 15-minute ceremony on a Mumbai terrace, surrounded by 20 people, was simply the formal step in a relationship that had long been defined by far more than a marriage certificate.
