For years, Scarlet Rose Stallone saw her father, Sylvester Stallone, mostly through the lens of his demanding career. Now, working alongside him on the hit series Tulsa King has rewritten their family story. The young actress has revealed that sharing the screen with her famous dad has profoundly transformed their bond, bridging the distance that his busy work schedule once created.

A Relationship Transformed On Set

In a recent interview, Scarlet Stallone opened up about the significant shift in her relationship with her father. “I think it completely changed our relationship in general,” she stated. She explained that growing up, her father’s intense focus on his career meant they were not as close as they are today.

“When I was younger, Sly was always working, so there was a bit of distance in the relationship,” Scarlet shared. “However, getting to actually work alongside him has made us really understand each other and have more of a profound respect for one another.” The collaborative environment on the set of Tulsa King provided a unique space for them to connect, replacing past distance with a new, mutual understanding.

Learning the Craft Together

Stepping into the acting world with a legend like Sylvester Stallone as both a father and a co-star could be intimidating. Scarlet admitted there is a certain pressure that comes with the role, but her father has been her greatest guide. She credits him with helping her navigate the challenges of acting.

“I think every actor has their own individual kind of pressure, but in this case, heโ€™s helped me so much with everything when it comes to do with acting, and I love learning and working alongside him,” she said.

Sylvester Stallone has also spoken about this dynamic, admitting he sometimes can’t resist offering his daughter acting advice. He told a story about how he would give direction until Scarlet politely told him, “I think I got it, Dad.” Despite his initial hesitation about her entering the tough industry, he has praised her talent and dedication, noting she has a unique quality with the camera and is already branching out into writing screenplays.

Art Imitating Life

The connection between Scarlet and her father extends beyond their personal interactions and into the story of Tulsa King. On the show, Scarlet’s character, Spencer, starts as a barista and ranch caretaker before being hired by Sylvester’s character, Dwight Manfredi, to work as a bartender at his bar, Bred 2 Buck. Over time, Dwight becomes a mentor and father figure to Spencer, helping her find her confidence and direction.

This fictional dynamic interestingly mirrors the real-life growth in understanding between the two actors. Scarlet discussed how her character’s journey reflects her own experiences.

“Seeing her character go from before Dwight, then after meeting Dwight, and how much sheโ€™s trying to find herself throughout that due to the help of Dwight, really makes her more grown and actually gives her more of an arc in the story,” she explained.

In the show’s current season, Spencer’s character is taking bold new steps, getting involved in risky business ventures with other crew members, showing how much she has grown under Dwight’s influence.

A Dream Come True

For Scarlet, this professional collaboration is the fulfillment of a lifelong ambition. She has wanted to act since she was a child and always dreamed of working with her father. “This is kind of like a dream come true for me,” she mentioned in a past conversation. “I’ve wanted to act my entire life. I’ve always pictured dad and I being on screen together.”

While Sylvester Stallone had mixed feelings about his daughter joining the demanding world of acting, his pride in her work is clear. He has acknowledged her passion and the discipline she has shown, not just in acting but also in her foray into screenwriting. Their shared experience on Tulsa King has not only given them a hit show but has also given a father and daughter a chance to build a stronger relationship.

New episodes of Tulsa King are released exclusively on Paramount+ every Sunday.
