Bollywood witnessed an interesting box office battle on July 3, 2026, as two female-led spy films hit theatres on the same day. Alia Bhatt and Sharvari‘s Alpha went head-to-head with Huma Qureshi and Saqib Saleem‘s Baby Do Die Do, which also marked the siblings’ first production venture. Amid the promotional buzz, Huma Qureshi sat down with comedian Tanmay Bhat for a conversation that quickly became the talk of the town.

What started as a routine interview turned into a viral moment when Tanmay playfully teased Huma about the box office clash. Her sharp and witty response left everyone in splits and instantly caught fans’ attention across social media platforms.

The Viral Exchange Between Huma Qureshi and Tanmay Bhat

During a chat on Tanmay Bhat’s YouTube channel, the comedian humorously brought up the competition between the two films. Tanmay remarked:

“Huma, I am so happy for you. It’s like you have proven that if you stick to your mission and if you work hard and you stay focused, one day you can also lose your box office to Alpha and it is exciting for all of us.”

The comment had everyone on the panel, including Rohan Joshi and Aaditya “Kullu” Kulshreshth, bursting into laughter. But Huma was quick to fire back with a response that took the room by surprise.

“Thanks Tanmay. It is a very small film, very tiny film, independently made, independently produced, also releasing on our own. So we are a very small film, and if you want a big film, I would go to like Latent and not come here.”

Her witty comeback immediately went viral across social media. The joke resonated with audiences because Alia Bhatt and Sharvari had promoted Alpha on the premiere episode of Samay Raina‘s show India’s Got Latent Season 2 on Netflix.

Huma Qureshi Welcomes the Clash, Calls It a Win for Women

While the exchange with Tanmay Bhat was lighthearted, Huma Qureshi has been nothing but gracious about the box office clash. In multiple interviews, she has welcomed the idea of two female-led films arriving in theatres together.

“I don’t look at ‘Alpha’ from a sense of being a competition. I think there is space for all kinds of films to be made and to be viewed. We’re an independently-made film. I’m not even looking at what else is releasing on that weekend but just want to find my own audience.”

She also emphasized how significant it is that two female-led films are clashing at the box office.

I will always be cheering, not just for my own film, but also for my girlfriends.”
