The latest episode of Invincible Season 4 dropped on April 15, 2026, and it changed everything. Titled “Don’t Do Anything Rash,” this penultimate episode delivered one of the most brutal battles in the series. A major character died, Oliver suffered terrible injuries, and the Viltrumite home planet was completely destroyed.

The episode first shows a look back at how Thragg became the leader of the Viltrumites. Viewers see Thaedus kill Emperor Argall, which clears the path for Thragg to take over. After becoming the new ruler, Thragg orders a purge where Viltrumites fight each other to remove anyone seen as weak. This event cuts down their population by a large number, making them weaker for the war to come.

The Coalition Plans a Direct Attack on Viltrum

After learning that Thragg plans to regroup and attack again, Thaedus decides the Coalition must strike first. He brings together a team including Invincible (Mark Grayson), Omni-Man (Nolan Grayson), Allen the Alien, Battle Beast, and Space Racer. Their goal is simple: go to Viltrum and kill Thragg before more Viltrumite soldiers return to the planet.

Not everyone agrees with the plan. Allen asks if killing all Viltrumites will only make the survivors more angry and dangerous. But Thaedus believes that without Thragg leading them, the remaining Viltrumites will have no direction and will be easier to defeat.

Before leaving for the mission, Mark tries to record a goodbye message for his mother Debbie and his friends on Earth. He thinks about what to say but deletes the message. He believes they will all celebrate together after the Viltrumite threat is gone.

Nolan has a serious talk with Thaedus about what will happen to the Viltrumites after the war. Thaedus makes it clear that he wants every single Viltrumite dead. He believes the galaxy will never be safe as long as even one Viltrumite remains alive. This worries Nolan because his sons Mark and Oliver are half-Viltrumite. Thaedus does not give a clear answer about what that means for them.

The Battle at Viltrum Turns Into a Bloodbath

The team flies to Viltrum, but their plan to sneak in fails right away. Thragg, Kregg, Thula, and other Viltrumites hide among the dead bodies floating in the rings around the planet. They ambush the Coalition as soon as they arrive.

Oliver attacks Thragg during the fight. Thragg catches Oliver’s punch with no effort. He then tears off one of Oliver’s arms and punches his jaw off. Oliver is left unable to fight and floating in space. Thragg calls him weak and tells Mark to attack.

Mark tries to fight Thragg but cannot land a single hit that does any damage. Nolan also struggles against Thragg’s strength. The villain punches Nolan so hard that he burns up while flying back out of Viltrum’s atmosphere.

The Viltrumite Home Planet Is Destroyed

With the battle going badly, Nolan gives the order to destroy the planet. Space Racer fires his Infinity Ray at Viltrum. Nolan, Mark, and Thaedus fly behind the blast and burrow through the planet’s core. The planet collapses and explodes behind them.

The destruction of Viltrum leaves everyone in shock. Both the Coalition fighters and the remaining Viltrumites float in space staring at what used to be their home. Thaedus tells the Viltrumites to surrender since they no longer have a planet to defend.

Major Character Death Confirmed

Thragg does not surrender. He screams “No” and attacks Thaedus. In a quick and violent move, Thragg rips off Thaedus’ head and crushes it. This confirms the death of the character. Reports indicate that unlike others who have survived terrible injuries in the series, Thaedus will not come back. The death follows the original comic books where Thaedus dies in a similar way.

After killing Thaedus, Thragg attacks Nolan and punches through his body. He then starts crushing Mark’s skull. But before delivering the final blow, Thragg stops. He tells the remaining Viltrumites that there are too few of them left to lose more. He flies away with his soldiers, leaving Nolan and Mark badly hurt and floating in space.

Oliver Survives With Major Injuries

The episode confirms that Oliver survives the attack. He is later placed in stasis to receive medical treatment. Allen the Alien and the other Coalition members find Mark, Nolan, and Oliver floating in space and bring them back to safety.

Mark wakes up weeks later inside a health pod. His body is covered in bandages. Nolan is also healing from his wounds. Oliver has been given a cybernetic arm and a prosthetic jaw to replace what Thragg destroyed. He will recover over time and return to the story later.

Allen is named the new leader of the Coalition after Thaedus’ death.

The Viltrumites Are Heading to Earth

The episode ends with a major warning. The remaining Viltrumites cannot be found anywhere in the galaxy. Mark realizes where they have gone. They are heading to Earth.

Thragg wants revenge, and he also needs to rebuild his empire. With Viltrum destroyed, Earth becomes the next target. The planet has already suffered attacks from the evil Marks, Conquest, and Nolan’s earlier rampage. Another attack from Thragg and the surviving Viltrumites could be the most dangerous threat Earth has ever faced.

The episode received strong reactions from viewers for its violent fight scenes and major character death. Fans also noticed a teaser showing Debbie in space with Nolan, which led to discussions about whether the two will get back together despite her rejecting his apology earlier in the season.

Invincible Season 4 Episode 8, the season finale, will release on April 22, 2026, on Prime Video.
