Netflix’s Squid Game Season 2, directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk, has maintained its global dominance, securing the No. 1 position for two weeks straight.

Squid Game 2’s Continued Reign

Based on Netflix’s latest Top 10 rankings (covering December 30 to January 5), Squid Game 2 leads the combined series chart, encompassing both English and non-English titles.

During this period, the series garnered 417.1 million viewing hours. While this represents a minor dip of approximately 7 million hours from the previous week, it still significantly surpasses other titles within the same timeframe.

The number of views, calculated by dividing the total viewing hours by the show’s runtime, nearly doubled from the previous week, reaching 68 million views. In just 11 days since its release, the series has accumulated 126.2 million views.

A Close Second in Netflix History

This achievement positions Squid Game 2 as the second most-watched non-English series in Netflix’s history. Now, the focus is on whether it will surpass the record held by the first season, which currently occupies the top spot.

Squid Game Season 1’s Resurgence

The first season’s renewed popularity is also noteworthy. Squid Game Season 1 re-entered Netflix’s Global Top 10 TV Shows chart (non-English) at No. 2, fueling a rewatch trend and dominating online conversations.

What’s Next for the Squid Game Universe?

Squid Game 2 showcases the intense confrontation between Gi-hun (played by Lee Jung-jae) and the Front Man (played by Lee Byung-hun) as they re-enter the deadly game. A third season is planned for release later this year.
