The Matlock Season 2 finale is bringing together three familiar faces from Jane the Virgin. Bridget Regan has joined the cast for the two-hour special event, appearing alongside Gina Rodriguez and Justina Machado. The episode airs on CBS this Thursday, April 23, 2026, at 9:00 PM Eastern Time.
This marks a full reunion for the three actresses who worked together on the popular CW drama. Jennie Snyder Urman, who created Jane the Virgin and now serves as showrunner for Matlock, helped make this happen.
Three JTV Alums Come Together for CBS Drama
The Season 2 finale of Matlock already had Rodriguez and Machado attached to appear. Now Regan is joining them, making it a three-way reunion. Regan will play a character named Ada Marcia. Rodriguez will play Lida Gutierrez. Machado returns as Eva, the ex-wife of Howard “Senior” Markston, played by Beau Bridges.
Regan is known for playing Rose on Jane the Virgin, the mysterious villain who caused many problems for the Villanueva family. Rodriguez played the title role of Jane. Machado played Darci Factor, a love interest for Jane’s father.
This is not the first time Matlock has brought in Jane the Virgin actors. Season 2 also featured Yael Grobglas and Yara Martinez in earlier episodes.

The two-episode finale, titled “Who Are You?” and “Matty Matlock,” will close out the Wellbrexa storyline that has been running for two seasons. The case involves a corporate opioid cover-up tied to the death of Madeline “Matty” Matlock’s daughter. Kathy Bates plays Matty, a sharp lawyer who returns to work to uncover the truth.
The official episode description says the team faces an unexpected final problem while trying to bring Senior to justice. They also defend an airport ramp operator accused of safety negligence after a passenger dies.
Skye P. Marshall, who plays Olympia, shared her thoughts on the finale.
“There’s a lot of downfalls, and there’s some inspiration to be had as well. In the finale, the audience will feel every emotion on the spectrum. And it is going to take two hours. You will sit down. This is a movie.”
Marshall also praised Bates’ work in these episodes.
“Kathy Bates’ performance is award-worthy. The chemical reaction that happens between Kathy and I, between Julian and Senior, between Sarah and Henry, you really get to see these relationships be challenged in the most complex way.”

The Matlock Season 2 finale airs on CBS on Thursday, April 23. Viewers can watch at 9:00 PM ET or 6:00 PM PT. The episode runs for two hours.
After it airs on CBS, the finale will be available to stream on Paramount+. The streaming platform typically adds new episodes shortly after they finish broadcasting.
The series has already been renewed for Season 3, which will return midseason. Showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman told Deadline that the Season 2 finale sets up a new direction for the show.
“It’s going to end at the end of the season. We have a great ending and the launch for the next season. There’s a different energy coming in.”
