In a recent interview, BTS’s Jungkook shared how his 2023 solo single ‘Seven’ changed everything for him. The song ended a period of creative doubt and gave him the confidence to build a major solo career. This revelation came in a global Rolling Stone magazine feature that also marks his first solo interview of the year.
The Single That Changed Everything
Jungkook told Rolling Stone that working on ‘Seven’ was a crucial moment. He was feeling uncertain about making music on his own after years of success with BTS.
“Everything felt like a hassle,” Jungkook recalled. “‘Seven’ made me want to get back to it”.
The song’s success went far beyond what he expected. ‘Seven’, featuring rapper Latto, was a global smash. It debuted at Number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and broke the record for the fastest song to reach one billion streams on Spotify. The reaction from listeners gave him a new level of confidence in his work as a solo artist.
A Global Magazine Cover Star
This interview is part of a major feature where Jungkook appears on the cover of Rolling Stone UK. This is a first for a K-pop solo artist in that edition. The project is a historic collaboration between Rolling Stone’s UK, Korean, and Japanese editions, which all published different cover images of him. Digital covers also appeared for readers in India, France, Brazil, the Philippines, and China.
The magazine feature includes a 24-page photoshoot and interview. The photos were taken in New York by photographer Tayo Kuku Jr., where Jungkook wears styles from Calvin Klein, a brand he has been a global ambassador for since 2023.
Looking Forward as an Artist
In the interview, Jungkook talked about his goals and his desire to keep evolving. He wants to be known as an artist who pushes his own boundaries.
“I’ve always pursued change,” Jungkook said. “I want to be an artist who doesn’t get dragged by the flow, but creates the flowโฆ I want to be an artist without limits”.
He sees his current period as a time for a new leap forward. He is focused on trying new things and showing different sides of himself, rather than repeating what he has already done.

Jungkook also shared glimpses of his current life. He is focusing on his health, with routines that include regular cardio exercise and a careful diet. He has also stepped back from some old habits to use his time more meaningfully.
This focus comes as BTS prepares for a full group comeback. All seven members have now completed their mandatory military service. The group has announced that they have begun working together again and plan to release a new album. Jungkook mentioned that the group is quietly working on music for their next album in Los Angeles.
His solo success has been historic. His debut solo album ‘GOLDEN’ became the best-selling K-pop solo debut album ever. As of late 2025, his songs have been streamed over 9.4 billion times, making him the most-streamed K-pop solo artist to date. His hit ‘Seven’ alone has surpassed 2.5 billion streams on Spotify, setting a new record for a K-pop release.
