South Korean actress Han So Hee is facing skepticism from netizens regarding her previous claim of being accepted into a French art university. Doubts have been raised about the validity of her statements, particularly concerning the financial requirements for obtaining a student visa.
Han So Hee, known for her roles in popular Korean dramas, has found herself at the center of controversy once again. This time, the issue revolves around her claim that she was accepted into a French art university but chose not to enroll due to financial constraints.
Two months ago, Han So Hee appeared on Nah Yung Suk’s YouTube channel with Park Seo Jun to promote their new drama, ‘Gyeongseong Creature.’ During the interview, she discussed her past and how she entered the entertainment industry. She explained that before her debut at the age of 25, she planned to go to school in France. She stated, “I got into (art) school too, but I couldn’t go. I got into a school in France. But I had to have 60 million KRW (~44,645 USD) in my bank account to get a visa. But I didn’t have 60 million KRW at the time.”
However, a YouTuber has raised questions about Han So Hee’s claims, explaining that the process of getting accepted into a school in France and receiving a visa is different from what she claimed. The YouTuber explained, “Han So Hee said she was planning to go between the time she was 15 to 20-years-old, so it’s based on the standard from 2014 to 2019. In France, it doesn’t matter what school you got into, whether it’s an art school or a private school of any major. You just need to prove that you have 9.6 million KRW (7,142.49 USD) to have no issues with receiving a student visa. This is all marked on the official website of the Korean embassy in France.”
The YouTuber also explained the acceptance process of schools in France to raise suspicions about Han So Hee’s claims and claimed that he plans to report this to an investigative program for a further look into Han So Hee’s claims. The suspicion quickly spread to online communities where Korean netizens began to share their thoughts and comments on the matter.
Korean netizens commented, “There is no proof that she was lying about this. Why do people have to go this far? This is such a creepy way to harass someone,” “Now all people think about is how to criticize Han So Hee. Why are people so low, I think so many people are just jealous of her,” “But back when she said she needed 60 million KRW to get a visa, people questioned her claims. So this is not the first time,” “Why are people so harsh to Han So Hee?” “If Han So Hee really got accepted into a school in France, she would have appeared on programs like ‘Problematic Men’ and spoke French. It’s so charming if you speak French, yet she didn’t use it to promote herself?” “People are just jealous of our pretty Han So Hee,” “Now celebrities have to prove they were accepted into a school even if they didn’t go?” and “To be honest, it takes a lot of funds to prepare to study abroad for art. Also, you have to be fluent in French (to go to school in France). So, I thought it was weird when I first saw that video.”
