In the world of K-pop, there’s always something exciting happening. This time, it’s the release of a new single by V, a member of the globally popular band BTS. The song is called ‘FRI(END)S’, and it’s already making waves in the music industry.

V, whose real name is Kim Taehyung, is known for his soulful voice and charismatic stage presence. With ‘FRI(END)S’, he has once again proven his musical prowess. The song is an emotional ballad that talks about the complex feelings one experiences when friendship starts to feel like something more.

The lyrics of the song are quite touching. V sings, “You’re in my head/ I had plans for the weekend/ But wound up with you instead/ Back here again/ Got me deep in my feelings.” These words beautifully capture the confusion and longing that often accompany unspoken feelings of love.

But what makes this release even more special is the live performance video that accompanies the song. This isn’t just any performance video, though. It’s a collaboration with the French luxury brand Cartier. V was announced as a brand ambassador for Cartier last July, and this video is a testament to that partnership.

In the video, V is seen standing in the opulent Cartier Maison Cheongdam “La Résidence” showroom in Seoul. He’s dressed in wide-leg tan pants and a brown sweater vest over a cream-colored shirt and a burgundy tie. He’s also wearing a generous amount of Cartier gold pieces on his wrists, fingers, and ear. The elegant interior of the high-fashion brand’s Seoul storefront provides a stunning backdrop for V’s performance.

‘FRI(END)S’ is V’s first new solo venture since the release of his debut solo album, Layover, in September. The English-language R&B song is a tribute to a longtime friend with love potential. The heartbreaking chorus goes, “Friends, just for now/ Yeah, but friends don’t say words that/ Make friends feel like more than just/ Friends, just for now.”

The ‘FRI(END)S’ single was released on Friday along with the original video. In the original video, V is seen navigating through the world alone while couples around him are deeply in love. However, a plot twist in the middle of the video changes everything.

V, along with his bandmates Jimin, RM, and Jung Kook, began the military enlistment process for his mandatory 18-month South Korean military service in November. The group is currently on hiatus until 2025, until all seven members complete their service.

So, ‘FRI(END)S’ is a beautiful song that showcases V’s talent as a singer and a performer. The collaboration with Cartier adds an extra layer of luxury and sophistication to the live performance video. It’s a treat for both music lovers and fashion enthusiasts. So, if you haven’t checked it out yet, make sure you do. You won’t be disappointed.
