What Happened in Chapter 124

Chapter 124, titled “Powerless,” followed Chapter 123 where the Sorcery Bureau rejected Kunishige’s initial proposal for the Enchanted Blades. Instead, they considered using the Flame Bone from the Kagari Clan, which would take a year to become combat-ready.

In Chapter 124, we saw the aftermath of Hiroto Soga’s death. His brother Giyuu took over as clan head and immediately pushed for Chiaki to be given to the Mikaboshi clan as a political compromise. Despite Akemura’s rage and his display of incredible speed and skill, he could not stop his sister from walking willingly into her fate. The chapter ends with Kunishige reading Chiaki’s farewell letter and beginning the process of forging the first Enchanted Blade.

Upcoming Hiatus Announcement

After Chapter 125 and the following Chapter 126, which releases on June 28, 2026, the series will go on an extended hiatus. The break will start on June 29, 2026 with Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 31, and the manga is expected to return in August 2026.
