HBO’s new DC series ‘Lanterns’ has dropped a major surprise that ties the show directly to Batman’s world. The second episode, titled “Trust Fall,” confirmed that Sheriff Kerry Kane, played by Kelly Macdonald, is originally from Gotham City. This reveal has sent DC fans into a frenzy, as it creates the clearest link yet between the Green Lantern series and the Dark Knight’s universe.

Mundy explained that bringing Sinestro into the series was about exploring the “coaching tree” of Abin Sur training Sinestro, Sinestro training Hal, and Hal training John Stewart.
“Sinestro can talk to Hal in a way… He’s not talking just as the bad guy of the lore, of course, or the canon. He’s talking as, ‘Hey, look, I trained you. We are close.’”
