Director Jang Joon Ho has stepped down from his role in the upcoming drama Motel California due to health concerns. However, the production of the highly awaited drama, starring Lee Se Young and Na In Woo, remains unaffected as Kim Hyun Min steps in to direct.
Jang Joon Ho Resigns as Director of Motel California
On October 24, JTBC Entertainment reported that Jang Joon Ho, the primary director for Motel California, has resigned due to personal health issues. His position will now be filled by Kim Hyun Min, who will oversee the rest of the drama’s production. Despite the change in direction, the production team confirmed that the project’s timeline remains on track, with much of the filming already completed.
Drama Production Remains On Course
Motel California is scheduled for release in early 2025 and will air on MBC. The drama has generated considerable buzz due to its star-studded cast and the strong storyline adapted from the novel Home, Bitter Home by Shim Yun Seo.
With 12 episodes planned, the romantic drama revolves around Ji Kang Hee (played by Lee Se Young), an interior designer who returns to her hometown after 12 years, and Cheon Yeon Soo (played by Na In Woo), a local veterinarian. The drama explores their rekindled feelings and the backdrop of Motel California, where Kang Hee spent her childhood.
Kim Hyun Min, known for his work on Love Scene Number, will now lead the direction of the project, ensuring the storyline and production stay consistent.
