Netflix has confirmed that Lupin Season 4 is now in production in Paris. Omar Sy will reprise his role as Assane Diop, the charming gentleman thief inspired by the classic Arsène Lupin stories. The new season promises fresh surprises, higher stakes, and deeper character arcs.
Fans last saw Assane in Part 3, where he turned himself in to protect his family. The season ended with a shocking twist: his enemy, Hubert Pellegrini, appeared in the same prison. This sets the stage for an intense new chapter.
The series remains one of Netflix’s biggest non-English hits. Parts 1, 2, and 3 hold the third, sixth, and tenth spots in Netflix’s all-time rankings for non-English shows. Part 1 alone drew 99.5 million views in its first 91 days.
Production began in May 2025, with filming taking place in Paris. A teaser released by Netflix shows Assane at the Eiffel Tower, hinting at his return to action. The new season will have eight 45-minute episodes, directed by Edouard Salier, Everardo Gout, and Hugo Gélin.
Omar Sy said: “I often say that Lupin is an extraordinary plaything. I find great joy in it every time. Together with Netflix, Carrousel, and Gaumont, we’ve invested the time needed to raise our ambitions and deliver even more surprises and enjoyment, both for us and the audience.”
The cast includes returning stars like Ludivine Sagnier (Claire), Antoine Gouy (Benjamin), Soufiane Guerrab (Guedira), and Shirine Boutella (Sofia). Hervé Pierre will also return as the villainous Pellegrini, ensuring a dramatic showdown.
George Kay, the show’s creator, previously teased that Pellegrini’s return was planned. He hinted at more twists, saying: “Nothing happens by accident in Lupin. Assane Diop has lots of enemies but only one arch-enemy.”
The delay between seasons was partly due to Omar Sy’s busy schedule. He starred in multiple films, including French Lover and 11817, while also producing new projects. Despite the wait, fans can expect a thrilling continuation of Assane’s story.
No official release date is set, but with filming underway, Season 4 could arrive in 2026. Previous seasons followed a two-year gap, but Netflix may speed up production given the show’s popularity.
The series is produced by Gaumont and Carrousel Studios, with Sy and Louis Leterrier serving as showrunners. Writers include Mathilde Arnaud, Jean-Yves Arnaud, and Tigran Rosine, ensuring the same clever storytelling.
A potential Sherlock Holmes crossover was once discussed by Kay, though it’s unclear if it will happen. The idea excited fans, as Lupin and Holmes famously clashed in the original books.
The teaser hints at a major surprise, with text stating: “The ending will surprise you.” This could mean a final season or a bold new direction for the character.
Lupin remains a global phenomenon, blending heist thrills, emotional drama, and Parisian charm. With Sy back in action and new twists promised, Season 4 is set to be another hit.
