Nicholas Galitzine has confirmed the end of filming for the highly awaited Masters of the Universe live-action movie. The actor, who plays both Prince Adam and He-Man, shared the news on Instagram with a teaser image of his costume. Fans are excited as the film moves closer to its 2026 release.

The movie, directed by Travis Knight, is set to arrive in theaters on June 5, 2026. It is produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Films, bringing the beloved 1980s animated series to life. Galitzine expressed his gratitude to the cast and crew, calling the role “the honor of a lifetime.”

What Is the Movie About?

The story follows Prince Adam, a young boy who crash-lands on Earth and loses his Power Sword, the key to his home planet, Eternia. Years later, he finds the sword and returns to Eternia, transforming into He-Man, the strongest warrior in the universe. His mission is to protect Castle Grayskull from the villain Skeletor, played by Jared Leto.

Castle Grayskull is a central part of the story. In the original series, it held ancient secrets and was the source of He-Manโ€™s power. The live-action film will explore this lore while introducing new elements for modern audiences.

Meet the Star-Studded Cast

The film features a mix of Hollywood stars and rising talents:

  • Camila Mendes as Teela, the warrior and ally of He-Man. She shared her excitement on TikTok after wrapping filming.
  • Jared Leto as Skeletor, the iconic villain with a skull-like face.
  • Idris Elba as Duncan/Man-at-Arms, a skilled fighter and mentor to Prince Adam.
  • Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Skeletorโ€™s cunning sorceress ally.
  • Morena Baccarin as The Sorceress, the guardian of Castle Grayskull.
  • James Purefoy as King Randor, Prince Adamโ€™s father.
  • Charlotte Riley as Queen Marlena, Adamโ€™s mother and a former Earth astronaut.

Additional cast members include Sasheer Zamata, Jon Xue Zhang, and Christian Vunipola in undisclosed roles.

Behind the Scenes

The script was written by Chris Butler, based on an earlier draft by David Callaham and the Nee brothers (Aaron and Adam). The film aims to stay true to the original cartoon while updating the story for todayโ€™s audience.

Fans of the 1980s series will recognize key elements like the Power Sword, Battle Cat, and the battle between good and evil. The movie also introduces new characters, including Goat Man, played by Hafthor Bjornsson (known for his role in Game of Thrones).

Fan Reactions and Expectations

Since the first casting announcements, excitement has been building. Many are curious to see how Nicholas Galitzine portrays both the heroic He-Man and the more reserved Prince Adam. The actor has previously starred in Red, White & Royal Blue and The Idea of You, showing his range in both action and drama.

“Well, thatโ€™s a wrap on Masters of the Universe,” Galitzine wrote on Instagram. “It has been an honor shouldering the responsibility of playing Adam and He-Man. Itโ€™s been the role of a lifetime.”

Fans online have shared their excitement, with many praising the casting choices. Some are especially eager to see Jared Letoโ€™s take on Skeletor, given his history of playing intense villains.

With filming complete, the next steps include post-production, visual effects, and marketing. The movie is expected to have a big promotional push leading up to its 2026 release.

Given the success of other Mattel adaptations like Barbie, expectations are high. If done right, Masters of the Universe could become a major franchise, with potential sequels or spin-offs.
