Min Hee Jin Resigns Amidst Controversies
On August 27, 2024, ADOR, the South Korean entertainment agency behind NewJeans, announced a significant leadership change. Min Hee Jin, who previously served as the CEO of ADOR, has resigned from her position. The move follows accusations of bullying and sexual harassment against her. Despite stepping down as CEO, Min Hee Jin will remain actively involved with NewJeans, continuing her role as an in-house director and producer.
New Leadership at ADOR
According to an official statement released by ADOR, the board of directors convened to address the leadership transition.
“After a thorough board meeting, we have decided to appoint Kim Joo Young as the new CEO of ADOR,” the statement reads.
Kim Joo Young, a seasoned expert in human resources with experience across various industries, will take over the role. ADOR anticipates that her appointment will help stabilize and reorganize the company’s internal structure.
“With Kim Joo Young as our new CEO, ADOR aims to stabilize the organization and ensure effective management,” ADOR stated.
Min Hee Jin’s New Role
Despite her resignation as CEO, Min Hee Jin will continue her association with ADOR as the primary producer and in-house director for NewJeans.
“Min Hee Jin will stay on as the main producer for NewJeans,” ADOR confirmed. “She will continue to be involved in the group’s production while we make necessary adjustments to our management.”
Accusations and Legal Issues
Min Hee Jin’s resignation comes in the wake of serious allegations. An ex-employee of ADOR has reportedly filed a criminal complaint against her for violating the Labor Standards Act and the Personal Information Protection Act. Additionally, another executive within ADOR has accused her of unfair practices.
“We are addressing the allegations against Min Hee Jin seriously and will cooperate fully with any legal proceedings,” ADOR mentioned.
Reorganization Plans
As part of the leadership change, ADOR plans to separate production and management roles, a standard practice in multi-label organizations. The agency stated that this move is intended to better support NewJeans’ growth and success.
“Our focus remains on supporting NewJeans’ continued success with the new leadership structure,” ADOR assured.
Legal Actions from Other Agencies
