Mirzapur The Movie has turned fan love into box office gold. Released in theatres on September 4, 2026, the film brought back Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, and Divyenndu to the big screen in a story set during the first season of the hit series. Five days into its release, the film is already a runaway hit, crossing ₹200 crore at the box office and entering mainstream pop culture in a way few Indian franchises have managed.

One viewer rated the film 4 out of 5, calling it “pure nostalgia” and praising the Munna Bhaiya and Kaleen Bhaiya combination along with the Guddu and Bablu dynamic. Another user credited Divyenndu for reviving the franchise’s hype, saying, “It took Munna Bhaiya to revive the dead hype after that worst season 3”.
Not every response was positive. Some viewers called it a slow crime thriller with dated conflicts, and the romance and attempted vulgarity were criticised. Yet even those critics noted that fans of the series would find plenty to enjoy, and the last 30-35 minutes offered action-packed moments.
A Deleted Post Credit Scene And What It Means
Mirzapur The Movie originally had two post-credit scenes. The makers decided to remove one ahead of the release. According to reports, the deleted scene was a hint towards a potential sequel. An industry source said, “The scene initially was to feature at the end of the film and set up what comes next, but the team felt its narrative significance would have a much bigger impact when the story continues”.
The second post-credit scene was reportedly shot with the plan for a Part 2 already in mind. The decision to hold it back was not a result of the film’s box office success, as the sequel plans were already on the table.
Where To Watch Mirzapur The Movie
For viewers who prefer watching from home, Mirzapur The Movie will stream on Amazon Prime Video, the same platform that has been home to all three seasons of the original series. An official OTT release date has not been announced yet, but based on the standard theatrical-to-digital window, the film is expected to arrive on the platform between October 16 and October 30, 2026.

Shoorveer Song Controversy
A political controversy has emerged around the film. Rajasthan BJP leader Rajendra Rathore has written to the censor board, seeking the removal of the song “Shoorveer” from the film. He claims the song, which is about the valour of Maharana Pratap and his horse Chetak, is used against the backdrop of gangsters and criminal characters, which he calls “extremely objectionable”.
The song’s original singer, Ashok Manda Bishnoi, also said on Instagram that he was not approached by the Mirzapur team for permission to use the song. “This song is dedicated to Maharana Pratap and it is being used in the movie to glorify villains. Is this right?” he said.
The film continues to run in theatres across India and in international markets including the UK, Australia, and Canada.
