Three of Netflix’s biggest Korean drama hits from 2026 are reportedly being considered for new seasons. Production company Studio S is actively looking at bringing back My Royal Nemesis, Agent Kim Reactivated, and Phantom Lawyer for sequels. The news comes from an interview with Studio S CEO Hong Seong-chang, who spoke with Korean news outlet Munhwa about the future of these popular shows.
While nothing has been officially confirmed by Netflix or the production team yet, the fact that Studio S is openly discussing sequels has generated plenty of interest among K-drama viewers. All three shows performed well in terms of viewership, with Agent Kim Reactivated reportedly achieving a 23% rating in Korea. My Royal Nemesis and Phantom Lawyer also reached double-digit viewership numbers, making them strong candidates for continuation.
My Royal Nemesis: A Fantasy Romance That Left Room for More
My Royal Nemesis premiered on Netflix on May 8, 2026, and quickly became a global hit. The 14-episode limited series follows Kang Dan-shim, a Joseon-era villainess sentenced to death, who wakes up in the body of Shin Seo-ri, a struggling modern-day actress. She then crosses paths with Cha Se-gye, a cold chaebol heir who may be her only chance to change her fate.
The show stars Lim Ji-yeon (known for The Glory) in the dual role of Kang Dan-shim and Shin Seo-ri, alongside Heo Nam-jun (from When the Phone Rings) as Cha Se-gye. Jang Seung-jo also appears in a supporting role.
My Royal Nemesis ended on a happy note for both Kang Dan-shim and Shin Seo-ri. However, the series left a few plot points open that a second season could address. The show’s director, Han Tae-seop, shared his thoughts on what a potential Season 2 might look like. In an interview with The Chosun Daily, he suggested a body-swap scenario where Lim Ji-yeon and Heo Nam-jun would play each other’s roles. He described this as “hilarious and exciting”.
Another possible direction for a sequel would explore the love story between Dan-shim and Yi Hyeon in the Joseon era, as they try to survive the Crown Prince’s wrath. A spin-off following these characters in the past is also not out of the question.
Agent Kim Reactivated: Action Thriller with More Story to Tell
Agent Kim Reactivated arrived on Netflix on June 27, 2026. The action thriller follows a father’s desperate search for his missing daughter, using his past skills as a secret agent. The show is based on an ongoing webtoon with plenty of source material beyond what was covered in the first season.
The series stars So Ji-sub as Agent Kim, alongside Choi Dae-hoon and Yoon Kyung-ho in key supporting roles.
The first season ended with Mr. Kim and his daughter relocating and changing their names, suggesting a fresh start. But the finale also hinted that trouble might still be on the way. Actor So Ji-sub has also shared messages about the possibility of the show returning.
Given the show’s strong viewership numbers—a 23% rating in Korea—a second season seems like a logical next step for Studio S.
Phantom Lawyer: Supernatural Legal Drama with Room for More Cases
Phantom Lawyer debuted on Netflix earlier in 2026. The series follows Shin I-rang, a quiet lawyer who suddenly gains the ability to see ghosts. He teams up with an ambitious rival lawyer to help his spectral clients find justice.
The show stars Yoo Yeon-seok (from Hospital Playlist) as Shin I-rang, alongside Esom (from Kill Boksoon) as Han Na-hyeon.
While the first season wrapped up its main conflict within 16 episodes, the series still has room for more stories. The show ended with Shin I-rang keeping his ability to communicate with ghosts, which opens the door for more cases involving ghostly clients. Yoo Yeon-seok’s performance, which included him playing characters possessed by ghosts of different ages and personalities, was a major highlight of the show.

Hong Seong-chang, the CEO of Studio S, confirmed in his interview with Munhwa that the production company is “actively considering producing sequels” for all three shows. The three dramas are all Studio S productions, and their success both in Korea and internationally has made them strong candidates for continuation.
It is worth noting that My Royal Nemesis is currently listed as a “Limited Series” on Netflix, which typically means the show was designed as a standalone story. Korean dramas do not always get follow-up seasons, even when they are popular. However, the fact that Studio S is openly discussing sequels suggests that the production company sees value in continuing these stories.
No official decisions have been made yet, and Netflix has not confirmed any renewals. But the conversation around these sequels is ongoing, and viewers who enjoyed these shows may have more to look forward to.
