The hit psychological anime about internet fame and obsession now speaks English. Crunchyroll officially begins streaming the Needy Girl Overdose English dub on May 2, bringing the darkly colorful world of KAngel to a wider audience.
Aniplex of America produced the dub in association with Bang Zoom! Entertainment. New dubbed episodes will release every Saturday at 8:30 a.m. PT / 11:30 a.m. ET. The Japanese version originally premiered on April 4 on Tokyo MX, BS11, Gunma TV, and Tochigi TV, with simultaneous streaming on ABEMA.
The anime adapts the popular indie game released as Needy Streamer Overload in English on Steam. The game has reached over 3 million downloads worldwide since its January 2022 launch.
Who Voices Who in the English Dub
The English cast brings together experienced anime and video game voice actors. Here is the full lineup for the first episode:
- Michelle Marie as Purple Lollipop
- Allison Hill as Michica Gokubara
- Nicole Gose as Nechika-sama
- Erica Mendez as Kache, who also serves as ADR Writer for the dub
- Ray Chase as Kache’s Boyfriend
- Kellen Goff as Otaku and Narrator
- Yong Yea as an Otaku Customer
- Heather Gonzalez as Interview
- Allegra Clark and Meli Grant as Additional Voices
The voice of KAngel and Ame-chan will remain confidential until after the season finishes.
Crunchyroll has chosen to keep the main character’s English voice actor a secret for now. Fans will need to watch the full season to learn who brings the struggling streamer to life.
The Story Behind the Pastel Chaos
Needy Girl Overdose follows a girl with an extreme need for online approval. She wants to become the ultimate internet streamer with help from a supporter named “P.” The story plays out over 30 days, with multiple possible endings based on the choices made.
The anime uses intense visual techniques to tell its story. Viewers see scribbled-out eyes, psychedelic inserts, and CRT filter scanlines. These choices create a hyperactive, screen-based world that feels both exciting and uncomfortable.
The original game was released by WSS Playground and Xemono in January 2022. It came out in English, Japanese, Chinese, and Korean at the same time on PC via Steam. Later ports arrived for Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PS5.

New Characters Created Just for the Anime
The TV show introduced an exclusive unit called Karamazov that does not appear in the original game. This group includes three members:
- Purple Lollipop (leader) – voiced by Michelle Marie in English and Rina Kawaguchi in Japanese
- Michica Gokubara – voiced by Allison Hill in English and Satsuki Shiina in Japanese
- Nechika-sama – voiced by Nicole Gose in English and Seena Hoshiki in Japanese
The Japanese voice actors shared their excitement when the roles were first announced in January 2026. Rina Kawaguchi, who plays Purple Lollipop, said she had always loved the original character and went to the audition determined to get the part.
