New Audio Recording of Late Kim Sae-ron Alleges Kim Soo Hyun Sent Intimate Photos With An Idol To Her; Late Actress Also Said Their Relationship Started In Middle School
A shocking audio recording of late actress Kim Sae Ron has been released, alleging a past relationship with top actor Kim Soo Hyun that began when she was a minor. The recording, presented by her family’s legal team, includes disturbing claims about intimate photos and messages shared between them.
On May 7, attorney Bu Ji Seok held a press conference in Seoul and played an audio clip of Kim Sae Ron speaking to an acquaintance before her death. In the recording, she claimed she dated Kim Soo Hyun from middle school until college and accused him of sending her explicit photos of himself with another woman.
“He showed me photos taken while having sex with someone else. He saved the idol he slept with as ‘Seaweed’ in his contacts because she smelled like seaweed. If I had the right circumstances, I would’ve exposed everything already.”
The late actress also stated their first sexual encounter happened during winter break in her second year of middle school (8th grade). She expressed regret, saying she felt “used” and silenced.
Kim Soo Hyun has repeatedly denied these allegations. At a press conference in March, he admitted to dating Kim Sae Ron but insisted it was only when she was an adult (2019-2020). He called the evidence against him “fabricated” and filed a 12 billion won ($8.1 million) lawsuit against her family and a YouTube channel spreading the claims.
The scandal has severely damaged his career. Brands like Prada and Dinto dropped him, and Disney+ paused his upcoming series. Meanwhile, Kim Sae Ron’s family filed a police complaint against him for violating child welfare laws, alleging he had an inappropriate relationship with her when she was underage.
