The Boys franchise moves forward with a new video hinting at in-universe superhero films and a dedicated VCU hub from Sony Pictures TV.
The Vought Cinematic Universe (VCU) is expanding beyond the world of The Boys. A new teaser video has appeared online, posted by the official Vought Cinematic Universe account in partnership with Sony Pictures TV. The footage signals that the franchise is preparing to explore fresh stories within its own fictional cinematic universe.
The teaser features a voiceover stating: “Over the past 75 years, we have penetrated the farthest reaches of the globe. Now, we gaze towards the future. We are storytellers, it’s written in our DNA, and today, we spread it to everyone. The Vought Cinematic Universe. Where all worlds come together.”
Official VCU YouTube channel goes live
Alongside the teaser, Sony Pictures Television launched an official YouTube channel for the Vought Cinematic Universe. The channel currently serves as a hub for clips and highlights from existing franchise content, including The Boys, Gen V, and the animated anthology series The Boys Presents: Diabolical.
At the time of the launch, the account had posted 15 highlight videos from these series. The channel joins the existing Vought International YouTube channel, which has operated as an in-universe social media presence for the franchise.
What the VCU teaser means for the franchise
The teaser points toward the creation of in-universe superhero films set within the world of The Boys. In the show’s canon, Vought Studios produces movies and television content based on its superheroes, including titles like Dawn of the Seven (2022) , Translucent: Invisible Force 2, and Rising Tide (2007).
The new video suggests that more such projects could be on the way, potentially as actual content produced for the franchise’s expanding universe. The move represents a shift where the fictional studio’s productions may become real-world offerings for viewers.
Franchise officially named Vought Cinematic Universe
Amazon confirmed earlier in 2026 that the shared universe of The Boys would officially be called the Vought Cinematic Universe, or VCU. The name places the fictional Vought corporation at the centre of the narrative framework.
This naming choice carries a certain irony. The Boys began as a satire of superhero culture and corporate media empires, yet the franchise has now adopted the same kind of branded cinematic universe model it once parodied. The show’s creator, Eric Kripke, has embraced this meta approach, transforming the Vought Cinematic Universe into something tangible.
Vought Rising prequel arriving in 2027
The next major project in the VCU is Vought Rising, a prequel series set in 1950s New York City. The series explores the early years of Vought International and the creation of the first superheroes using Compound V.
Jensen Ackles returns as Soldier Boy, while Aya Cash reprises her role as Clara Vought, the character who would later become Stormfront. The teaser for Vought Rising dropped shortly after The Boys series finale in May 2026.
The supporting cast includes Mason Dye as Bombsight, Will Hochman as Torpedo, and Elizabeth Posey as Private Angel. KiKi Layne, Jorden Myrie, Nicolo Pasetti, Ricky Staffieri, and Brian J. Smith also appear in undisclosed roles.
Showrunner Paul Grellong describes the series as a murder-mystery with superheroes, comparing it to L.A. Confidential but “grimier”. The show is scheduled to premiere on Prime Video in 2027.
Other spinoffs in development
Beyond Vought Rising, The Boys: Mexico remains in active development. The spinoff comes from writer Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer and stars Gael García Bernal.
All series in the franchise are produced by Sony Pictures Television, Amazon MGM Studios, Kripke Enterprises, Original Film, and Point Grey Pictures.
What the teaser could mean for future content
The new VCU teaser leaves room for interpretation about what comes next. One possibility is that the Vought Cinematic Universe channel serves as a central home for all franchise projects. Another is that it marks the beginning of a new phase of in-universe films and shows.
In The Boys Season 4, Episode 5, a fan convention called V52 Expo announced a slate of projects for VCU Phases 7 through 19. These included titles like The Tek Knight, G-Men: Days Past From The Future, Flipped, and The Deep: Secrets of Atlantis.
While those specific projects may not materialise, the teaser suggests that new in-universe content featuring existing or new Vought superheroes could be in development.
