What Happened Before Episode 4
The story of Oh Boy, Was I Wrong About Her centers on Hayato Kirishima, a young man who moves from the countryside to a high school in the city. There, he reunites with his childhood friend Haruki Nikaido after seven years apart.
But Hayato gets a big surprise. The friend he remembers as a messy, mud-covered boy he played with in the countryside is actually a girl. Haruki has grown into a beautiful and elegant young woman. However, when she is alone with Hayato, she drops her polite act and returns to being the loud, direct friend he remembers from childhood.
The first three episodes showed Hayato’s move to the city and his reunion with Haruki. They also showed how their childhood friendship slowly starts to turn into something more romantic. The series is a romantic comedy that plays with the childhood friend trope.

About the Series
Oh Boy, Was I Wrong About Her is a Japanese light novel series written by Yu Hibari and illustrated by Shiso. It first appeared online in June 2020 on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website. Kadokawa Shoten later picked it up and began publishing it under their Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko imprint in February 2021. The light novel has nine volumes out in Japan so far.
A manga adaptation with art by Kina Ōyama ran from September 2021 to June 2025 and was collected in seven volumes. The anime adaptation was announced and premiered on July 6, 2026. The series is licensed by Crunchyroll. Each episode runs for about 24 minutes.
