The investigation is heading across the pond. Only Murders in the Building Season 6 is currently filming in the United Kingdom and has announced a massive list of new cast members. The upcoming season will see the crime-solving trio—Charles (Steve Martin), Oliver (Martin Short), and Mabel (Selena Gomez)—leave their beloved Arconia behind to solve a new mystery in London.
The move follows the shocking Season 5 finale, which saw the murder of true-crime podcaster Cinda Canning (Tina Fey). Her death, tied to a London-based case she was investigating called “The Girl with the Curls,” sets the stage for the team’s international adventure. The series is produced by 20th Television and created by Martin and John Hoffman.
New Additions Include Doctor Who Stars and Bridgerton Favorites
Season 6 is bringing an impressive roster of British and Irish talent. Among the new recurring guest stars are David Tennant (Doctor Who, Rivals), Nicola Coughlan (Bridgerton, Derry Girls), and Jodie Whittaker (Doctor Who, Broadchurch). Joining them are Jim Broadbent (Moulin Rouge, Bridget Jones’s Diary), Richard Ayoade (The IT Crowd), Adrian Lukis (The Crown), and Kathryn Hunter (Poor Things).
This casting creates fun reunions for fans. The season will feature two former Doctor Who leads in Tennant and Whittaker, as well as two Bridgerton stars in Coughlan and Simone Ashley. The exact character details for all new additions are being kept under wraps, which is typical for the mystery-comedy series.
Familiar Faces and More Guest Stars Announced
The cast list doesn’t stop there. Previously announced guest stars include Martin Freeman (Sherlock), Geri Halliwell-Horner (Spice Girls), Jennifer Saunders (Absolutely Fabulous), Sharon Horgan (Bad Sisters), Jamie Demetriou (Stath Lets Flats), and Derek Jacobi (Gladiator). They are joined by Simone Ashley, Sean Teale, Amar Chadha-Patel, Rhea Norwood, Matthew Beard, Anjana Vasan, Jane Horrocks, and Lesley Nicol. The series also regularly features celebrities playing fictionalized versions of themselves, raising speculation about Halliwell-Horner’s role.
Michael Cyril Creighton will return as Howard, the only previously confirmed returning cast member besides the main trio. Da’Vine Joy Randolph has been seen on set, but her return as Detective Williams has not been officially confirmed.

The new season will center on solving Cinda Canning’s murder. Before her death, Cinda was investigating a case about a young woman with red curls who was the prime suspect in the murder of a royal descendant. The trio is drawn into the case after finding a bloody boarding pass from Heathrow to JFK on Cinda’s body. Series creator John Hoffman has hinted that the season will explore the origins of mystery storytelling, drawing inspiration from Agatha Christie and Arthur Conan Doyle.
Only Murders in the Building Season 6 does not yet have a premiere date. However, with production underway in the UK since May 2026, the show is expected to maintain its annual release schedule, likely premiering in August.
