Fans of Netflix’s hit drama The Glory noticed actor Park Sung Hoon’s complete omission from a cast montage featured on tvN’s You Quiz on the Block during its February 19 episode. The segment, which celebrated the show’s global success, included clips and images of key cast members—except Park, who played antagonist Jeon Jae Joon.
Co-star Cha Joo Young appeared as a guest, discussing her experience working on The Glory and crediting the drama’s success to its script and dedicated cast.
“The director told me he chose actors who showed sincerity and passion for their roles. Everyone poured their heart into the project,” Cha shared during the episode.
Despite her praise for the ensemble, Park’s absence stood out, especially since his character was pivotal to the storyline. Viewers quickly linked the omission to recent controversies surrounding the actor.
Squid Game Parody Post Triggers Backlash and Career Fallout
Park Sung Hoon faced intense criticism in early 2025 after sharing a Not Safe For Work (NSFW) parody video inspired by Squid Game on his personal Instagram. The post, deemed inappropriate by fans and industry observers, led to questions about his professionalism.
“This kind of content damages his image as a rising actor. It’s disappointing,” wrote one netizen on a Korean forum.
Park issued a public apology, but he controversy quickly escalated, leading to major criticism, with some even questioning his professionalism. Despite issuing a formal apology, the situation negatively impacted his career, resulting in his withdrawal from the upcoming drama The Tyrant’s Chef.
From Rising Star to Industry Scrutiny
Before the controversy, Park Sung Hoon’s career trajectory seemed unstoppable. After gaining recognition for The Glory, he secured roles in high-profile projects like Queen of Tears and Squid Game 2. His May 2024 appearance on You Quiz on the Block highlighted his growing popularity, as he discussed his acting journey and future ambitions.
The contrast between that interview and his recent exclusion from the show’s The Glory segment has fueled speculation about the industry’s stance on his behavior. While tvN has not commented on the editing choice, fans argue the omission appears deliberate.
Mixed Reactions from Fans and Followers
Social media buzzed with theories about the missing montage footage. Some fans expressed disappointment, while others supported the decision to distance from the actor.
“Jeon Jae Joon was a key character. Erasing Park’s contributions feels unfair, even if he made a mistake,” tweeted a viewer.
“Actions have consequences. The industry is protecting its values,” countered another.
Park’s agency has not addressed the montage issue directly but previously stated he is “reflecting deeply” on his actions.
