What Happened in Episode 13 Before Episode 14

Episode 13 showed Shin Il-rang in a critical condition after getting shot. He fell into a coma and existed as a spirit watching his own body in the hospital. His family and Han Na-hyeon (played by Esom) were devastated, unable to hold back tears seeing him unconscious.

The spirit Shi-ho helped Il-rang return to the real world. The ghost reminded him about unfinished business at the law office. A missing children case became the main focus of the episode, with the kidnapper having a past trauma of losing their own child.

Shi-ho got emotional closure when she met her parents one last time. Il-rang slowly recovered from his condition but started experiencing memory loss as a new problem. By the end of episode 13, he returned to work but new threats began to appear.

What to Expect in Phantom Lawyer Episode 14

Episode 14 deals directly with Shin Il-rang facing his dead father Shin Ki-jung (played by Choi Won-young). The father appears as a spirit with no memory of his past life. The preview clip shows Il-rang waking up from a nightmare about his childhood trauma.

Young Il-rang in the nightmare faces reporters at a funeral pressured to say something. He sees hateful messages written on desks and blackboards at school, calling his father a criminal.

When Il-rang wakes up, his father stands there looking calm. Shin Ki-jung says, “I came to check on you because you were tossing and turning all night.” Angry Il-rang shouts, “How can I sleep peacefully with a ghost glaring at me? Please go somewhere out of sight!”

The father, unable to remember his past life until he learns his name and birthdate, asks, “Do you know who I am?” He then lectures his son saying, “Legal professionals must guard against prejudice.”

The production team stated, “Episode 14 is where Shin Il-rang, as a lawyer and the son of Shin Ki-jung, confronts his roots head-on. Yoo Yeon-seok’s intense performance and Choi Won-young’s portrayal of the deceased will create a historic chemistry.”

Han Na-hyeon (Esom) and Yoon Bong-soo (Jeon Seok-ho) continue investigating a case involving missing children. They work without Shin Il-rang and team up with Father Matteo and Officer Kim for a secret search.

The father-son conflict drives this episode. Il-rang believed his father was a good prosecutor who punished wrongdoers. Now he learns that Shin Ki-jung might have been corrupt. Episode 14 tests whether another hidden truth lies behind the corruption label.
