Yoo Yeon Seok is no ordinary lawyer in his new drama. The actor takes on the unusual role of a legal expert who is frequently possessed by the ghosts of his clients in the upcoming SBS series “Phantom Lawyer.” A special new teaser for the drama offers a first look at this chaotic ability, showing Yi Rang transforming into a girl group trainee, a brilliant scientist, and many others to solve their unfinished cases. The drama is now confirmed to premiere in March 2026 on SBS.
What Is Phantom Lawyer About?
“Phantom Lawyer” is an upcoming South Korean television series. It is also known by other names, including “Shin Yi Rang’s Law Firm,” “Shinrang Law Office,” and “With God”. The show is a mix of legal drama, supernatural mystery, and quirky adventure.
The story follows Shin Yi Rang, played by Yoo Yeon Seok. He is a lawyer who starts his own practice in an office that once belonged to a shaman. Soon after moving in, he gains the ability to see ghosts. These spirits become his most unique clients, seeking his help to resolve their lingering grievances and find justice for wrongs committed against them while they were alive.
โIf I donโt do this, who will listen to their stories?โ
This sincere question from Shin Yi Rang in the teaser shows his core motivation. He reluctantly becomes a bridge between the living and the dead, using the law to help ghosts find peace.
Yoo Yeon Seok’s Chaotic Possession Ability
The most unique part of the drama is Shin Yi Rang’s special method of lawyering. He doesn’t just talk to his ghost clients; he literally lets them take over his body. This “possession advocacy” is the central highlight of the new teaser.
When a ghost client possesses him, Yi Rang completely transforms. He takes on their personality, memories, and even their physical abilities, regardless of the client’s age, gender, or profession. The teaser shows him suddenly embodying a young girl group trainee and a sharp-minded scientist. These possessions throw him into dangerous situations, from confrontations with gangsters to life-threatening encounters.
The process is not easy for him. Yi Rang is described as timid and somewhat clumsy. He constantly complains about the bruises, falls, and nausea caused by these relentless supernatural takeovers. Despite his grumbling and the physical toll, his underlying compassion drives him to continue helping those who have no one else to turn to.
Esom Plays His Skeptical Partner
The other lead character is Han Na Hyun, played by actress Esom. She is the complete opposite of Shin Yi Rang. Han Na Hyun is an elite, top-tier attorney at the prestigious Taebaek Law Firm. She is known for her cold, ruthless work style and has a flawless, 100 percent win record.
Her perfect track record is broken when she suffers an unexpected loss in a case against Shin Yi Rang. This defeat brings her into his chaotic world. When Yi Rang explains that he can see ghosts, she is completely skeptical and dismissive of his claims.
However, as she witnesses the strange and inexplicable events surrounding Yi Rang and his cases, she slowly begins to open her mind. The cool-headed lawyer starts to uncover the truth behind these bizarre legal battles and gradually becomes Yi Rang’s most reliable ally.
A Team Built on Opposites
The drama’s appeal lies in the unlikely partnership between these two very different lawyers. They form a unique three-way team with the ghost clients.
Shin Yi Rang’s role is to connect directly with the clients. Through possession, he absorbs their memories and uncovers the crucial clues and emotional truths at the heart of each case. Han Na Hyun then steps in with her sharp legal mind and logical expertise. She takes the clues Yi Rang discovers and uses the law to build a solid case and find a resolution.
The production team said, โThe unexpected three-way collaboration between Shin Yi Rang, who has possession abilities, Han Na Hyun, who has sharp judgment, and ghost clients, each carrying their own stories, delivers laughter, thrill, and heartfelt moments all at once.”
This combination of supernatural insight and earthly legal strategy is what will drive the story forward in each episode.
