Fans finally have a clear picture of the new players entering the world of Ghost, Tommy, and Kanan. Starz has announced six new cast members joining the upcoming prequel series Power: Origins, as production officially begins in New Jersey. This major casting update reveals the friends, family, and potential foes who will shape the iconic characters’ early years on the streets of New York City.

Joining the previously announced leadsโ€”Spence Moore II as young Ghost, Charlie Mann as young Tommy, and MeKai Curtis returning as Kananโ€”are actors Jennifer Ferrin, Lizzy DeClement, Lenny Platt, Armani Gabriel, Everett Osborne, and Jason Dirden. The series, which promises a lighter, more energetic look at the characters’ beginnings, will have a supersized first season of 18 episodes.

The Six New Faces Joining the Power Universe

The new cast members will play a mix of family, romantic interests, business partners, and street associates who will fill out the world of young Ghost and Tommy. Each character adds a new layer to the foundational story fans have been asking for since the original series ended.

Here is a full breakdown of who the new actors are playing:

Jennifer Ferrin steps into the pivotal role of Kate Egan, Tommy’s mother. Described as melodramatic, attention-seeking, and manipulative, Kate struggles with addiction. Despite her challenges, Tommy is shown to be fiercely devoted to her, often taking care of her and trying to keep her clean. This casting gives fans their first real look at the woman who raised Tommy.

Lizzy DeClement will play Jill Wexler, a smart and ambitious nurse working at a Queens hospital. Jill is a recovering addict who has experienced significant hardship in her young life. She becomes romantically involved with Tommy, but isn’t afraid to call him out when he acts foolishly.

Lenny Platt joins as Lenny Seidell, a charismatic former finance broker who now runs a successful fitness business. With ambitions to build a fitness empire, Lenny’s operation has a dark side: he supplies steroids to his top clients and is constantly looking for new partners and opportunities.

Armani Gabriel is cast as J-Boogs, a sharp, street-smart, and scrappy individual. He serves as one of Ghost and Tommy’s most trusted “corner boys,” a reliable foot soldier in their early operations.

Everett Osborne will portray Omay Moreau, a superstar tight end for the New York Jets. Omay appears as a generous friend who introduces his inner circle to a world of extravagant parties, luxury cars, and fast living. However, the glamorous surface may hide more complicated intentions.

Jason Dirden is reprising his role as Traymont Stinson, a character first introduced in Power Book III: Raising Kanan. Traymont was once a trusted associate of the Thomas family before betraying them. His return connects the new prequel directly to the existing Power storyline.

Production Details and Filming Status

Power: Origins is now officially in production. Filming for the series began in late November 2025 and is taking place in New Jersey. This marks a significant expansion for the Power franchise, as the show’s first season has been ordered for 18 episodes. This episode count is notably larger than other series in the Power universe, which typically run for 10-episode seasons.

Showrunner Sascha Penn, who also serves as an executive producer, co-wrote the pilot with Courtney Kemp, the creator of the original Power series. Other executive producers include Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson through G-Unit Film and Television, Mark Canton, Chris Selak, Kevin Fox, and Pete Chatmon. Chatmon will also direct episodes for the series.

The network has described Power: Origins as a fun and rambunctious exploration of a new time period. It aims to highlight “the unbridled audacity of young men on the rise, determined to become legends in the game”. The story will follow Ghost, Tommy, and Kanan as “ambitious young entrepreneurs” trying to make their mark on New York City’s streets.

Regarding the large episode order, 50 Cent commented to Deadline, โ€œItโ€™s like two seasons instead of the way we did it last time. So thatโ€™s gonna be cool. Itโ€™s excitingโ€.

How Origins Fits Into the Expanding Power Franchise

Power: Origins is the fourth spinoff and the fifth overall series in the growing Power television universe. The franchise began with the original Power, which aired for six seasons from 2014 to 2020. It was followed by Power Book II: Ghost (focusing on Tariq St. Patrick), Power Book III: Raising Kanan (a prequel about a young Kanan Stark), and Power Book IV: Force (following Tommy Egan in Chicago).

Unlike other spinoffs that typically center on one main character, Origins will focus on the trio of Ghost, Tommy, and Kanan simultaneously. The show is designed as a direct sequel to Raising Kanan and will explore the period before the events of the original Power series. This timeline means fans can expect to see younger versions of other familiar characters, though casting for roles like young Tasha or young LaKeisha has not yet been announced.

The connections between the series are becoming more direct. Power Book III: Raising Kanan recently aired its fourth season and has a fifth and final season already filmed, set to premiere in 2026. Power Book IV: Force is currently airing its third and final season. The return of Jason Dirden as Traymont Stinson is a concrete link between Raising Kanan and the new Origins prequel.

While an official release date has not been set, the production timeline suggests Power: Origins will likely premiere on Starz in 2026. The series will consist of 18 episodes for its debut season.
