What Happened in Episode 7?

Episode 7, “All the Dogs’ Names,” centered around Thanksgiving break at Ludlow college. Greg and Cristle broke up, but the split was handled with humor. Cristle ended things but got upset when Greg did not try to win her back. Tommy showed up to class wearing dark glasses and acting strange, telling Greg he saw him as “a snake between two Gatorade trees.”

Walt confronted Greg about several complaints, including the fact that Greg and Cristle had sex on his desk. Feeling guilty, Greg agreed to help Walt get the head of English department job. But Katie, Zoey, and Dylan found out and convinced Greg to send a selfie to Walt showing their disapproval. Walt eventually gave the dean of faculty position to Dylan, showing some growth in his character.

The episode also showed Archie continuing to juggle Katie and Sunny. He showed up at Katie’s class with her favorite croissant but then ignored her when she wanted to talk. Katie was clearly hurt, and viewers felt her pain as her hope disappeared.

The Cast of Rooster

Rooster features a strong cast of comedy actors:

  • Steve Carell as Greg, the writer and main character
  • Charly Clive as Katie, Greg’s daughter
  • John C. McGinley as Walt, the college dean
  • Danielle Deadwyler in a supporting role
  • Phil Dunster as Archie
  • Lauren Tsai in a supporting role

The show comes from Bill Lawrence, who also created Ted Lasso and Scrubs. Steve Carell is known for his roles in The Office and The Morning Show.

How to Watch Previous Episodes

All previous episodes of Rooster are available to stream on Max right now. New viewers can catch up on the first seven episodes before episode 8 releases on April 26. The episodes are short at 30 minutes each, so watching the whole season so far takes only a few hours.

Will There Be a Season 2?

HBO has already renewed Rooster for a second season. The show was always planned to have multiple seasons, so the season 1 finale will likely set up storylines for season 2. Fans can expect some cliffhangers as the show builds toward its future.
