The doctors of Sacred Heart Hospital are not leaving the building anytime soon. ABC has officially given a second season order to the Scrubs revival, which means fans are getting Season 11 of the beloved medical comedy. This news comes just months after the show returned from a 16-year break.
The renewal comes as part of ABC’s 2026-2027 TV lineup. The first season of the revival, also counted as Season 10, started airing in February 2026. Since its return, the show has pulled in strong audience numbers. That success convinced the network to bring the cast and crew back for more episodes.
How Well Did the New Scrubs Season Perform on TV
The numbers tell a clear story. According to Nielsen and Disney, the Scrubs revival became ABC’s most-watched comedy among adults 18-49 this season. Within its first five days, the show collected 11.36 million views across ABC, Hulu, and other digital platforms.
When looking at a longer window of 35 days, the premiere episode reached about 11 million total viewers across all streaming and broadcast platforms. These are strong numbers for a sitcom that came back after more than a decade and a half. The show currently holds an 86% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, with audiences giving it an even higher 93% score.
“Scrubs had a good, long run in the early โ00s, but itโs clear thereโs still more room on that runway. The series hardly misses a beat as it makes its long-overdue return to ABC.” – Jesse Schedeen, IGN
Fans clearly missed this world. The show proved that a smart reboot can work when it respects the original material while bringing something fresh to the table.
Which Original Cast Members Are Coming Back for More Episodes
The renewal brings back the core group that made the revival work. Zach Braff (J.D.), Donald Faison (Turk), and Sarah Chalke (Elliot) are all set to return as executive producers and stars. For fans worried about Dr. Cox, there is good news. John C. McGinley has already confirmed he will be back in a much bigger capacity for the second season.
Other original stars like Judy Reyes (Carla), Christa Miller, Neil Flynn (The Janitor), Phill Lewis, and Robert Maschio appeared in recurring or guest roles during Season 10. Bill Lawrence, the creator of the original Scrubs, continues to executive produce through his company Doozer Productions. Aseem Batra serves as the showrunner.
The first revival season had nine episodes. It remains unclear if Season 11 will have more episodes. Many of the original Scrubs seasons had 20 or more episodes. But for now, fans are just happy the show is continuing.
