In a notable night for Korean television, the established drama “Shin’s Project” has broken its own ratings record, while the new series “Ms. Incognito“ entered the scene with a promising start. The clash of the titan and the newcomer on Monday-Tuesday dramas has given viewers a lot to talk about.
“Shin’s Project” Reaches Its Highest Rating Yet
The tvN drama “Shin’s Project” continues its impressive run, achieving its highest viewership numbers since its premiere. The fifth episode of the show, which aired on September 29, scored an average nationwide rating of 8.7%. This broke the drama’s previous record of 8.0 percent, firmly placing it as the top-rated Monday-Tuesday drama on tvN in 2025.
The show’s latest episode provided a satisfying conclusion to one of its major story arcs. The protagonist, Shin, played by Han Suk-kyu, successfully took down the corrupt father-son duo of Choi Woong-sik and Choi Yong-min. In a clever political maneuver, Shin first announced his candidacy for city council to directly challenge Choi Woong-sik, only to later withdraw from the race and throw his support behind a rival candidate. This strategic move, combined with the release of gathered evidence, led to the downfall of the villains and delivered a sense of justice that resonated strongly with the audience. The episode also ranked first across all channels, including public broadcasters, during its time slot.
A New Challenger Arrives: “Ms. Incognito” Premieres
Meanwhile, the new ENA drama “Ms. Incognito” made its debut on the same night. The first episode achieved a nationwide average rating of 2.4%. This opening score makes it the highest-rated first episode among Genie TV’s original dramas, signaling a warm welcome from viewers.
The series stars Jeon Yeo Been as Kim Young Ran, a bodyguard from a poor background who is desperate to change her life. Her character applies for a personal bodyguard position for the chairman of Gaseong Group, Ga Seong-ho, played by Moon Sung-keun. Despite a rocky interview where a past conviction almost ruins her chances, the chairman himself sees something in her and decides to hire her.
The premiere episode quickly set up the central mystery. After entering the chairman’s mansion, Kim Young Ran discovers hidden cameras and learns from Chairman Ga that his biological daughter was murdered. He names his stepdaughter, Ga Sun-young (Jang Yoon-ju), as a prime suspect. In a shocking turn of events, the chairman then proposes a contract marriage to Kim Young Ran, leaving her—and the audience—to wonder about his true motives.
Chairman Ga Seong-ho confided that, contrary to public belief, his daughter had been murdered and named his stepdaughter Ga Sun-young as a prime suspect.
The Stories Behind the Shows
“Shin’s Project” follows a former legendary negotiator who now owns a fried chicken shop. Using his sharp mind and skills, he steps in to resolve social conflicts and take down corrupt powers. The drama has been praised for its blend of social commentary, thrilling action, and cathartic justice, led by the stellar performance of veteran actor Han Suk-kyu.
“Ms. Incognito” is a romantic crime drama that tells the story of Kim Young Ran. After entering a three-month contract marriage with the terminally ill chairman, she is forced to live under the new identity of Boo Se Mi to survive those who are trying to seize his vast fortune.
