Filmmaker Siddharth Anand, known for directing Pathaan and the upcoming King, has booked first-day-first-show tickets for Yash’s Toxic. Siddharth Anand’s ‘Oops’ Comment on Telugu Films Sparked Criticism

Last week, a social media user posted a list of recent Telugu film releases starring big names like Jr NTR, Pawan Kalyan, Vijay Deverakonda, Ram Charan, Prabhas, Mahesh Babu, and Nandamuri Balakrishna. The user marked each film as a ‘flop’. Siddharth Anand replied with a simple “Oops” in the comments section. This remark did not sit well with many Telugu cinema fans.

Several users called out the director for his dismissive comment. One user wrote, “Says the director who blamed the audience for the flop of Fighter”. Another pointed out that films like Kalki 2898 AD and Devara were actually successful. Some fans also reminded him that his own film Fighter did not perform as expected at the box office. The backlash was strong enough that Anand later deleted the post.

Director Books First-Day Tickets for Toxic and Praises Yash

Despite the controversy, Siddharth Anand made it clear that he is a fan of Yash’s work. On August 24, he took to X and announced that he had booked tickets for the first day of Toxic.

“Booked tickets for FD for #TOXIC. Going into a theatre not knowing what to expect. This feeling is so good!! YASH is that superstar – so exciting and so unpredictable! He’s broken the mould. Everything about the film is looking fantastic and dynamic! My best to the whole team!!”

This post received mixed reactions. Some fans praised him for supporting a pan-India film. One user commented, “I am not a fan of yours but I appreciate that you are the one from Bollywood who celebrates all the major cinema”. Others, however, were quick to remind him of his earlier comment. One user wrote, “After this tweet, this is clear that the ‘oops’ was not for any industry or north South rift, that was a definition of Prabhas career”. Another user joked, “Tollywood is such a nightmare for this guy. Can’t imagine the sleepless nights TFI heroes have given him”.
